I feel that ham doesn't freeze well, but this dip does. This is an excellent way to use up that left over Ham. The recipe is also handy, in that you can use what you have at hand.
200g. ham,chopped.
20g.sweet chilli sauce, or chutney
10g. Worcestershire sauce
30g Mayo, or sour cream or soft butter
1/4 teaspoon of spice mix. I used Quatre epices that I made.
1/4 teaspoon of Bacon Dust, Optional
Place all in bowl, speed 7/ 20 seconds. Scrape down.
Speed 7 / 20 seconds, or to consistency that you prefer.
Nice in a sandwich with lettuce
Nice on toast for breakfast.
Serve as a dip with vegetable sticks.

Tips/hints from members
hillybilly - I made one that tastes very similar to the commercial Devilled Ham Spread. Just used 250g light cream cheese and 350g of ham and some black pepper. Roughly cubed cheese and ham and processed for 10-20 seconds on speed 6. Yummy on toast.
Gert - One of my favourites is to toss chunks of ham and sweet pickles (gherkins) in the TMX. Chop and then mix some mayo in.
Jeninwa - I added some gentleman's relish and some pepper berry mix.
Chookie - I've also added a generous teaspoon on English hot mustard. Plus I've added gherkin relish to the ham & butter and a shake of Worcestershire sauce and a little spice.

With all of the left over ham this xmas this will come in handy thanks for posting ;)
-
Easy to make too. Lovely. Just have to wrestle some ham from my DH. He loves the leftovers.

yes we do also, but eventually get tired of it. Think i must order too large a ham. I give lots away but still have left overs.
-
Is this similar to Pecks Paste, devilled ham Chookie?
-
Thanks Bess, I'm sure this will be popular for using up the Christmas ham.

Yes, but you might have to add a bit more chilli. Have a taste after the first blend.
-
Sounds Yummo Chookie. We love our christmas ham and with 2 hungry teenagers I don't see using it all up a problem but I will sideline a bit to make this
-
I will have to try your spread Chookie, it sounds delicious. I made one on Boxing Day that tastes very similar to the commercial Devilled Ham Spread.
Just used 250g light cream cheese and 350g of ham.
Roughly cubed cheese and ham and processed for 10-20 seconds on speed 6.
Yummy on toast :-))

Ooooh I love devilled ham spread, so will enjoy making this one thanks for sharing ;D

One of my favourites is toss chunks of ham and sweet pickles ( gherkins) in the TMX. Chop and then mix some mayo in. Childhood memories as my mother tried every which way to use of leftover ham. Ham and scalloped potatoes as well.

I only had 75g of ham left so decided to do hillbilly's simple mixture - mixed it with the 50g of light cream cheese I also had - great to get rid of bits and pieces. Going to have it on toast for lunch hillbilly. So many things to do with leftover ham, I am sorry mine is all gone now :'(
-
Love all these variations. Trouble is, I gave most of the ham to the kids. Think I will go to Istra and buy another bit on the bone.
-
Forgot to say that I added some black pepper :-)
-
frank said he will kill me if i make ham spread with the left overs we have :( "whats wrong with just frying some up and chucking some eggs with it love" ;D
-
Do what I did Uni, just make enough for 4 slices of toast - that will be Frank's serve, you will have to go without :D :D
-
:D
-
Fundj, your Frank sounds like one good Aussie hunk!
-
he is a good man my frank :D
-
Just made this with some of our left over ham. My DH has been requesting I make it since before we bought the ham this Xmas. We had it last year and he loved it. Thanks Chookie :)
-
Love this recipe. I alternate the leftovers with just the ham gherkins and mayo. Love both.

Exactly what my DH says.

Cookie add some onion put it on fresh bread with mayo and you have. Western egg sanger.

Yum. Sounds good Gert.

Made this for my lunch very quick and easy, I added some gentleman's relish and some pepper berry mix bought back from tassie. Very nice.
-
Jen, sounds good. Will try adding GENTLEMANS RELISH.
-
I made half quantity of this recipe tonight and had it on toast for tea. My sour cream was rather thick so I added some runny cream until I was pleased with the texture. Funny how we only have this at Christmas time.
-
I was inspired by Jenni idea, but we have eaten all the Gentleman's relish. So added a generous teaspoon on English hot mustard. Like Judy we had this on toast for tea.
-
I made this today but it I had to wait a while to taste it :D I put it in the fridge to cool a little, DH found it and made off with the whole jar :o He did leave some though and it is lovely. Shame the ham is now all gone. Thanks Chookie for another great recipe.
-
djinni, so glad that your DH enjoyed it. We usually have a lot of ham over , but this year we gave a lot away. I have made this and added mustard, added ham to pizza , made Hally's pasta and made fried rice. I will be sorry when it has all gone .
-
Ham is so useful to have in the fridge Chookie, is it any wonder Hally is on her 3rd or 4th one ;D
I had this for breakfast this morning on toast. Spreads much easier than vegemite ;)
-
I know it is so handy, especially in the hot weather. But we will be sick and tired of it by the end of the week. I don't think it freezes well, so we just eat it.
-
That's why I only do half quantity Chookie.
-
Made this today, delicious ;D I found an end piece of ham on the reduced counter in the supermarket.I immediately thought " Chookies Ham Spread " ;D Funny how recipes spring to mind when looking at ingredients :D :D

So true, CC. Glad you enjoyed it.

Bumping.Still trying to use up the ham I have leftover so made this this lunchtime. ;D
-
Have just found another recipe for using up ham. FILO bags with tomato and ham.
-
I really need to check our ham and cut off any of the left over meat. I don't think there is much left but if I don't do it tomorrow it will need to go in the bin :(
-
JD only 1 ham this year, but really big :)
Going to make this, might add some caramelised onions.
H :)
-
Some cheese in those filo bags would be nice too Chookie.
-
Hally it is better to buy a large ham , rather than several small ones. More meat, less bone.
Judy , good idea with the cheese.
Made the Lemon Kefir Ice cream, beautiful. Could use yoghurt. Will post recipe as very easy and good for hot weather. Much less fat than traditional Ice Cream.

Even better when its a gift :)

-
Hally, yes . Very generous gift.
-
Having this for lunch today with multi grain Vienna bread.
Looking forward to it, and glad the ham is now finished!
-
I read with interest, Gert's comments about how her Mum would add gherkin to the ham paste, so I gave it a go. I added gherkin relish to the ham and butter and a shake of Worcestershire sauce and a little spice. Lovely. Worth a try
-
This one was nice but I was looking for one with a bit more kick.
Today it is 10.30 am and I am feeling very pleased with my self. Have baked an Olive SD loaf, cake release and pumpkin soup and marinated the chicken for dinner. (http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161231/6f5b671a56c328c36b57717d5f913869.jpg)
