Introduce Yourself / Re: Greetings from the So.Calif. "High" desert.
« on: November 18, 2009, 01:52:19 am »
I have an extensive collection of early 20th century kitchen appliances, mixers, toasters, waffle irons, coffee makers and a few one-off items that never made it commercially.
Welcome andiesenji, would love to know what these one-off items are, any chance of a picture or two and an explanation as to what they are used for?  You sound like a very interesting person, hope you have someone who will take over your collection and be as passionate about it as you are (not for another 30 or so years of course ;) ;))  Looking forward to seeing some of your converted recipes from the 'good old days' - comfort food at its best.

Update for all those who know what is going on down here. Geoff today was taken out of his room of 4 men (who scream and snore all night) and finally given a private room in the nursing home today.  He rang me and he sounded so much better.  Happy days, now I can stop worrying about his mental state.  With only 2 weeks to go until he comes home, I'm sure things will now look up for him.  I'm doing really well and finally had a good night's sleep until some 'lovely' woman dialled the wrong number at 7.10am this morning and woke me.  arggggggggggggggg    Back when there is more to report.   :-* :-* :-*

Thermomixer, you seemed to have missed your calling and should have gone into the cooking sector many years ago.  Not that there is anything wrong with being a vet - I have no use for one but I did take my grand-dog to one a few years back, little whimp he was ( gorgeous cavalier king charles with a grass seed in his ear) and there we both were (the dog and me, not the vet), crying in the waiting room! I can normally hold it together but it was all too much for me at the time.   :P :P :P

Introduce Yourself / Re: Can you guess who I am???
« on: November 17, 2009, 04:14:21 am »
He is telling fibs Cookie1.  Anyone who can bring an old car back to life like your DH can, could surely work out the TMX :D :D :D Personally, I don't think I could stand a man in my kitchen unless he did all the cooking all of the time and cleaned up after himself. Love my cooking and kitchen too much to share it with anyone else.

Yes, she puts us to shame doesn't she Cookie1  :-)) :-))  Would be interested to know what you write about in the magazine TMB - has to be food surely?? What's the magazine called?

Funny, I've never even heard of mock chicken.  Mock fish is the only thing I know from the old days.

Why don't you try it Thermomixer then report back to us all about her reaction - now that is a place I'd love to be a fly on the wall to see or hear her reaction.  :D :D :D :D  Poor Mrs T - she gets a bashing doesn't she  ;) ;)
