I've read that heaps of people make fudge, balls (eg rum balls, apricot balls etc) to give to people over the Christmas period but I'm struggling to find out how long this ind of food will keep for. I'm sure it depends on the recipe, but are there any general rules of thumb that people follow?

They have a good fridge life M Saver, make them the weekend before Christmas and they will be fine for weeks.

My fridge lasted for ages last year as we rationed it. Rum balls seem to go immediately.

Fudge doesnt last 24 hours here....but I don't think it's anything to do with food saftey precautions.
