Thermoserver in the dishwasher?
« on: January 06, 2011, 12:04:35 pm »
There are no markings on any of the 3 parts to the Thermoserver to indicate that it's dishwasher-safe.  Can I assume that it is?  How is it going with those of you who have been washing it for a while?  I got mine today and it's going to be washed for the first time tonight.
Thanks,
Miss G

I wash mine in the dishwasher all the time.

I've had absolutely no problem with in.  If it was aluminium it would be a problem but as it is stainless steel there is no issue in washing it in the dishwasher.

I have to admit I never even looked at the thermomserver to see if it is dishwasher safe. I don't ever wash it by hand- always goes into dishwasher and comes up lovely and shiny!!

Mine goes into the dishwasher s well - just don't put it on the stove. A consultant at a cooking class said someone's mother put it on the stove and it exploded!
I also didn't think to look to see if it was dishwasher safe - I just assumed that it was.

It's lucky that it appears to be dishwasher safe - I threw mine in without thinking about it as well.

Thanks for asking the question Miss G!

Must be a 'mother thing' - in the early days I also popped mine on a very low heat on the stove top to keep it warm and after a while I heard a couple of 'cracks' coming from it.  Thank goodness it didn't explode on me  :-)) :-)) We live and learn.

Oh dear jd, as long as you're okay. Did your TS survive, or did you have to get a new one?

Mine was quite OK thermoheaven, don't know what is in there for insulation purposes but whatever it is obviously has a crack in it now but the outside stainless steel casing is fine and it does keep things warm for as long as I want it to.  No scorch mark on the bottom like Nay-nay's Mum ended up with though.

I poured boiling water in mine to heat it up before I wanted to use it, as you would with an old-fashioned thermos-flask.  It was a safer alternative to heating on the stovetope and worked well I think.   No scorch marks!  ;D ;)
