What are you cooking today?
« Reply #34110 on: February 20, 2020, 08:41:42 am »
DD bought some books from Amazon the other day. She found if she signed up for Amazon Prime for a month (about$7.99) she could get the books shipped free. She then found that we could download books for free too. So I have added a few to my Kindle. She has set reminders everywhere to opt out after the month. She and DH have been watching some car shows on it.

I made a SD rye loaf today. The starter went mad yesterday. I had never had one overflow before but this did.
I also made some peanut butter biscuits and put a Malteser button on top of them.

Is that Kindle Unlimited Cookie?  I had a free 3 month subscription to that last year but found the books for free weren't the best.  I'm talking about cookbooks, I must admit I didn't look through the fiction section (can't seem to sit long enough to read these days), but I cancelled it before I would have been charged if I wanted to keep it.

My daughter subscribes to Prime for free postage as she buys a few things from there but I prefer to pay as I go because there could be long gaps between buying something but would still have been paying for Prime during that time. Great if you are a frequent buyer.

I tried cooking small bread rolls in the mini pie machine.  1/2 no fuss recipe made 11. Double rise. Cut out with scone cutter. Cooked 8 minutes and 10 minutes. Next time will stretch them into round balls.

They look great Chookie.

JulieO it’s Amazon prime for the books I think.

DH decided last night, that as we are going on a breakfast run with the Model A, he would like egg and bacon pies in the Pie Maker.  He didn’t want pastry as it was too much fat. (But he eats Tim Tams) He asked if I could use bread dough. I made Jamberie’s Pizza dough and used some of it to make bases. I cooked them from cold, for about 10 minutes. I put ham in the bottom and poured beaten egg over it.

Cookie, what a good idea.  How did they taste?  I have been thinking that you could use a slice of bread, roll it thin and use this as a base.
I made some Apple and Raspberry mini pies.  Also made jam all day. About 19 jars of various sizes.  Bit over it now. Still have some plums left.  Might make some plum paste.

Got my cooking mojo on the other day . Made a nut bite slice from Skinnymixers. Apricot marmalade Farella’s four jars . Strewed garden pears . The vegies boxes of fallen garden pears are quickly turning yellow , so made a pear crumble . Apples are not ready yet to make Apple and pear chutney . They probably will be too moist to make a pear paste . The best apple trees have not fruited this year .

Spinach and artichoke bake, roast vege frittata, ratatouille and cannot forget RTE's cowboy beans (although that was yesterday so maybe that doesn't count in this thread?)

The bread dough base was very successful.  Both DH and DD liked it. DH is very impressed and wants to do all sorts of things in the pie maker. Weird as he hardly ever glanced at the Sunbeam one. 😀😀😀😀

I made these biscuits from the Lindt site. I prepared them yesterday afternoon and cooked them this morning. It only made 12 and there is only a few left.

Yesterday I made some Macadamia Fruity bars. They are really nice.

Today I have some SD starter growing and I have made the No Fuss recipe to make rolls.

Cookie looks crunchy and nice.
I was watching a cooking video and the cook added dried SD starter  to the bread recipe for extra flavour.  It was dark so probably dark rye. Might give it a go.

I bet they are nice Cookie, though I can't eat figs, I get a bad reaction to them. I get the emails from them too, there's always something I'd like to make.  :D
