Are there things that TMX won't handle?
« on: August 09, 2010, 06:57:02 am »
Hi all
I was just wondering if there are any big no-no's for putting things in the TMX.   I realise that food should be ice-cube sized or smaller but is there any rules about things that are likely to damage it?
Obviously it is tough enough to handle ice etc, has anybody had any mishaps with anything?
Can it handle frozen meat in small pieces?
thanks
Susan

I found it actually minces meat better when it is half frozen. You have the blades running and pop it through the top it is more gentle on the machine. :)

I minced 3/4 frozen chicken and it was great.

Think as long as the pieces aren't too big you should be fine.  It handles whole nutmegs !!! Somebody (Jad?) showed a video of sand or gravel being ground up !!

Whole nutmegs - wow

It doesn't handle cornflour being put in before liquid. It glues the blades into place if you leave it too long and sounds really sick and is a PITA to clean. I only did it once.......!

We must have done something wrong, as one of our blades has a chip out of it, and our other bade has a nick out of it. Hubby not happy. Hardest thing we have put in is ice. Am planning on speaking to my consultant next Saturday when she does varoma demo

As Thermomixer says, size is important, not only for ice but everything. I personally wouldn't wait until next Saturday, I would be ringing your consultant today  (you don't want to do any more damage if you do happen to be doing something wrong!!

You will also need to think about what you were using your TMX for before you noticed the chips etc out of your blades as she will need this info to help you. By before I mean the last couple of days before, in case it is a combined thing if you know what I mean.

Hope you can get some answers quickly
