All sorts of things happen when we are not concentrating or with it cookie.  What a bummer though, a perfect batch of tomato paste having to be tossed.

Many years ago I made my first pot of vegetable stock, but I obviously wasn't thinking or concentrating, when it was done I drained the stock away and kept the vegetables!

You are not alone Cookie, we have all done something silly when we are not concentrating.

LOL from me too Marina. A long time ago a lady who was new to out school made herself a cup of coffee at recess and instead of putting the water in her cup she held the coffee jar up and put water in that. We thought it was hilarious but being new I can guess how she felt. At least no one saw me being stupid.

Was this the recipe you used, Cookie (it doesn't say anything about adding detergent, so I am not sure if it is the right one - maybe you have started an innovative new trend there!).  My stupidity aside, is this the recipe you used?  It would be good to have a good tomate paste recipe.

Yes it  is Marina. I went back and bought some more cheap tomatoes and I'm going to try again tomorrow. I did need to cook it on Varoma for a while to thicken the paste. I made Passata from The Passionate Pantry too. (no detergent) I wasn't impressed with the colour as it seemed a bit orange, but the taste is lovely. I'm trying to do the  link but the computer doesn't like me.

Cookie, I am pleased to see that you can buy cheap tomatoes. The ones in Ballarat are still about $6 a kilo. We are getting just enough from the garden for eating. I have been able to get a few quick sale ones that I have been using in the Plum, A pile and Tomato  Sauce.

Most are around that price here too Chookie, these were quite soft, but perfect for what I wanted.

Me either Chookie. This little Italian shop had boxes of very red tomatoes cheaply today for making tomato paste. I picked up almost a kilo of lovely tomatoes for $2 there. I will certainly be going back.

We haven't had a good oops for a while, so here's mine - minus a photo.

I was half way through cooking my favourite orange and almond cake today and took it out of the oven to pop some paper on the top as it was getting a bit too 'golden' on top and the whole cake tin slipped out of my hands!  The mixture went everywhere.  I was about to bin it when DH said, no, stir in some chia to bind it and put it back into the oven and see what happens.  So l salvaged what I could and put it back into the oven.  I am just about to take it out and it actually looks OK ... I will reserve judgement on how it tastes until a little later on.

I’m sure it will taste delicious. I love the crunch of chia in things.
