Title: A real dilemma
Post by: JulieO on September 15, 2009, 01:47:05 pm
Each morning of the past few days, I've started out with the good intention of giving the TM a rest for the day and catching up on stuff I've been putting off like ironing, gardening, finishing a book I started a couple of weeks ago and catching up on some tv shows I've recorded.

I have my morning shower, tidy the house, vacuum and then it hits me.  This unequivocal desire to make something in the TM!  I try and resist the pull and sometimes, sometimes I make it till lunch time, but then, I need my fix, I can't fight the urge any longer, and I have to make something, anything  :-))

Oh boy, when will this wear off, I'm obsessed!   :o    ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D It will probably never wear off JulieO, just get worse OR once our hot summer arrives you may not (?) feel like doing so much cooking - or anything else for that matter ;) ;) ;) Just go with the flow, you are obviously enjoying it and your meals look fabulous.

Judy is correct Julie. It doesn't wear off. :-)) :-)) :-)) My freezer has never been so full. DD takes food to work to feed her colleagues, if DH does a couple of days relief teaching on an educational farm he takes morning and afternoon tea. It never ends.  :D
But what fun I'm having.  It's like an entire new approach to cooking. Yesterday when it was cold and rainy (as it always seems to be at the moment) I decided to make myself some pumpkin soup for lunch, it's so easy. I would never have done something like that in the old days -too much trouble.

My advice is to live with and enjoy your obsession, you aren't the only one. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes it is a worry for me too. The next obsession is this website! Its quite embarrasing if I start to talk about the TM as I just won't stop raving about it, and then I realise that I have to rein myself in! (Its only a kitchen appliance after all... sigh...)

Yes a REAL Dilemma!! Your family must love you for it though! My revelation (I'm a bit slow) is how much I took food for granted! Making everything from scratch makes you appreciate the time, energy and sacrifice(eatting meat) that it takes to make every morsel that goes in your mouth. Even though the TMX makes everything easy and fast there is no way I'd let my kids sit down and munch up the whole lot of crackers I made in one sitting unlike letting them consume a packet of rice crackers whenever they wanted!! No wonder there is an obesity epidemic so much food on offer 24/7 with no thought of where comes from and how much energy the earth took to give it. If everyone made food from scratch there is no way they would eat as much as they do. :-)) ok - that's it - I've step off now  :D

Sunday is my weakness with Bimby - start with just something small for brekkie and then it snowballs and there are too many dishes cooked and so packing begins for the fridge and freezer, and nothing else has happened for the day.  ??? ;)

You certainly can't call Sundays a wasted day Thermomixer.

Join the club ;) ;) ;) I think there are many of us who fit into that category. You have to get your priorities right and cooking comes first and foremost if you are a TMX owner.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one!  Whenever I have a Saturday free I plan lots of jobs that need to be done, and start with cleaning out the fridge... but of course that leads to using up what's in there, which means Thermomixing!!!  And suddenly it's the end of the day and the washing isn't even hung out!  :-\  Oh well, I'm having fun, and the family appreciates all the food!  :)

I have to admit (but only to you couple of folks) that I actually had the TMX going yesterday before I did the breakfast dishes. (I'm the dishwasher as we don't have an automativc one) That's a big no no for me as I like to get beds, dishes etc done before I 'play'.
