I made this for the first time today and my 2 boys (4 and 1) absolutely devoured it! I used carrots, zucchini and a bit of red capsicum. Next time I make it I would probably follow the variation suggestion and cook the onion and garlic first to bring out the taste a bit more, as I found it needed a bit of seasoning. 4.5/5

I'm planning on making a Jamie Oliver pizza dough which uses 800g flour, 200g semolina, 650g water, then salt, sugar, yeast etc. I was just wondering if that quantity might be a bit heavy for kneading? Please don't tell me to do it in 2 batches as I already need to make 3.5 batches of it!

Chit Chat / Dariole moulds
« on: November 30, 2012, 09:37:11 am »
I'm going to make the individual Christmas puddings from QFITT in the next few days but I don't have any dariole moulds. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could use instead? They look to be about $3-4 each so I don't want to have to buy 14 of them. Whatever I use is going to have to fit in the varoma dish and tray. I could use silicone muffin moulds but didn't think they'd look as nice.

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / help with shortbread
« on: December 14, 2011, 06:19:20 am »
I have made shortbread using 3 different recipes in my search to find a nice recipe, and my biscuits all seem to end up crumbly.  I've tried the one from this thread (CarolineW's I think?), the one from the EDC, and another one which was given to me by a friend.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could be going wrong?

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / A Taste of Asia - Spicy Calamari Rings

My husband made this last night using his freshly caught squid.  The only complaint we both had was that it was VERY salty, and it seemed to get worse the more we ate.  Next time we would substantially reduce the salt or even leave it out altogether.

Introduce Yourself / best thing I ever bought!

Hi all  :)

I have had my tmx for just over 3 weeks now and absolutely love it!  I made hot x buns and fresh honey cinnamon butter on Saturday, and they were absolutely divine.  This morning I've whipped up some Anzac biscuits and am just waiting for Isi's 'normal' bread to peep through the top of my tmx lid.  Tonight I'm going to try Steamed Ginger Chicken with garlic rice and veg soup.  I make all my baby's food in it - it is such a breeze.  I think the biggest hit by far has been Rara's Cherry Bites.  I made them to give out as Easter eggs this year.  My sister had never considered getting one but says she's finding it hard to think of reasons not to buy one after seeing how much use I'm getting out of it.  I especially love the fact that I can just whip up some soup for lunch or dinner at the end of a long day, and it can cook itself while I settle the baby.  It's better than a toasted sandwich, and even easier I think.
