I was just wondering what's the go with dead/old threads because I know some forums don't like them being bumped after so many days ..
Reason being I really wanted to thank meganjane for sharing her Best Cooked Mayonnaise recipe which I made this morning and absolutely love! Only the last comment on that post was in 2012 ..
-
For myself, I would like to see old threads staying and being bumped regularly as there are so many gems hidden in amongst the recipes (and many other posts as well) that it would be a shame to lose them.
However, I am not a moderator and it may be that things are, in fact, getting overloaded 'behind the scenes' and it may need to be trimmed down - I think that would be a job for MM and the three wonderful moderators to mull over and make a decision on, if necessary.
Delighted to hear that you liked the mayonnaise.

I love it when a thread is "bumped" as well. Lots of hidden gems and old memories resurface not to mention some old members .

I agree with both of you. We have discussed unlocking some threads as they are no longer needed at the for front but that is all.
Juicy Fruit you have sort of shown that old threads are still needed.
However we will see what CC and Judy think.
-
I agree I like old threads being bumped. As Gert says there are hidden gems brought to light at times. :)
-
Same here, go for it girls ;D
-
Please keep 'bumping' away as "oldies are always goodies"!
-
I like it when old threads are bumped too. My only problem is my "to try" list gets longer 😄
-
LOL
-
Definitely bump!
-
Oh yes I love old threads being bumped. It is usually only because they are so good. Often I have missed them first time around. I havent ever made the best cooked mayo for example!
-
Keep bumping.
-
I agree, keep bumping. There are some great recipes in here.
kmw, my "to try" pile is massive as well. I think I'll have to cook for 100 years and at least 5 recipes a day to get through mine!
-
You will have to come to the same old people's home as Judy, myself and others as we are taking our thermomix with us. ;D ;D

Can I come, too? ;D
-
I agree keep "bumping" please. I love it when an old thread suddenly pops up again and you realise you have missed it before. We have some wonderful recipes on here.
-
I agree also with the "bumping" old threads, that way I can catch up on a lot of threads that were happening before I joined the forum ;D
-
keep bumping, i love finding things to cook :) :)
-
This is one forum with no dead threads, only ones that are having a nap waiting for that wakeup call . . . . . ;) :D
-
I can remember when that message first came up for me, not knowing much about forums at that time, I just sat here wondering whether to post there or not. I decided why not, I can only get told off if I've done the wrong thing or my posting removed :D
-
When a dead thread is revived it shows exactly as GF said. I've been known to spend ages looking for something old on the forum, but now I am learning to do Judy's trick of googling it and most times it comes up for me.
I'd love a 'save' box attached to the forum where I could save little hints etc. I put recipes into Snap Recipes and often bookmark hints but both of those are growing enormously. ;D ;D
-
I love it when threads are bumped and not only cooking ones. I remembered a discussion on vacuum cleaners and referred to it when I was purchasing mine. I bumped it to see if those that posted were still happy with their choices.
It does get me wondering about members that haven't posted in a while like Decadent Dot, Katya etc. I hope they doing well and that it's only that life is busy, keeping them away from the forum.
Actually I looked up when they were last active - Dot in February and Katya yesterday so that's good. Hope this doesn't seem stalkerish? Just hope all is well.
-
I was thinking about decadent dot the other day and wondering how she was getting on.
No not starkerish but just concerned.

I agree that we miss some of our 'old regulars', especially those we know have health problems. Check in when you can guys, we often think of you.
-
I must admit to Decadent dot being in my thoughts in the last few months.
-
I see Decadant Dots email addy is hidden . Ummmm wonder if a moderator might send her an email?
Gert

Great to know, thanks .. I'll happily post away then and hopefully bump some new old things for others to re/try too! :D
-
I often think of Decadent Dot, Katya and Andie(senji) - although she pops on now and then, and there was also a gay couple, I think in Germany, the Australian partner was hilarious with his stories, but haven't heard from him in such a long time either ... and there must be many others whose names have been lost between the cracks in my grey matter but who used to post regularly.

No sooner said than done Gert.
DD was last on the forum in the middle of February this year.
