Who undersatnds the art of ..........................?
« on: September 13, 2011, 10:15:33 pm »
How many have a divided household when it comes to filling the dishwasher? This SMH article provides many smiles and some understanding for the stackers among our family and visitors - enjoy the read -
Dishing it out to the stackers
We too have a lab who gets up close and personal with the DW.

So true Robyn, we all have our own way of filling the dishwasher. You can always see the difference between a dishwasher owner and a non-owner when it comes to filling after you've had guests to a meal.  If done correctly, you can get so much more in there but, as the article points out, if it is filled incorrectly not all items get washed satisfactorily.  I have always put the knives in blade down but DD never did so when down there, I used to turn hers around (just like I do with toilet rolls on the wrong way wherever I go).  Thankfully her 2 new dishwashers have a separate section for the cutlery to lay so there are no dangerous blades pointing upwards.

Good article Johnro- proves I'm not the only obsessive dishwasher FILLER  ;D  I have a friend who has got rid of their dishwasher after his 3 teenage kids kept stacking the dishwasher.  Now they hand wash dishes!

Gorgeous photo! I have a cat who gets underneath the bottom drawer when I open it.

As mentioned, I have a set of dish drawers which I adore. No more bending down and pulling out of racks.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Is it crazy that I forked out all that money for a TMX when I don't even own a dishwasher?  Next on my list.  Would be a good birthday/Xmas pressie for DH who is generally my dishwasher.

I saw a detective show where someone slipped in the kitchen and landed down on a big knife pointing upward in the open dishwasher drawer, so I always put blade down with that in mind.  I wish the tuna people at work would at least give their tuna bowls a quick rinse.

Love the pic! Having stabbed my hand on sharp knives a few times now, I always point the sharp knives down, but leave the rest of the cutlery facing up, as I think it gets a better clean that way.

We're the same in this household Hally, I cook (well thermie cooks now a days)and hubby helps tidying up, I am not allowed to load the dishwasher when he's around and that suits me fine as well.
Cute picture and no surprise that is a lovely lab, they can sniff food 5 miles off LOL.

Yes my lot just don't understand that if the dishwasher isn't stacked properly then things don't was properly. Why don't they get it? Cups stacked facing up just fill with water, And stacking plates to closely together wont wash. And not rinsing a dirty dish will just clog the filter etc etc. Its just easier to do it myself.

Oh and Judy I am the same with toilet paper, I cant stand the paper rolling back wards against the wall it drives me mad. And I'm a folder not a scruncher lol.
