Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Ragu Bolognaise Sauce - EDC
« on: July 10, 2012, 11:32:36 am »
I made this for the first time tonight. As I had already read quite a few tweaks about the recipe I decided to use a combination of about six  I read on the forum..... And it came out almost perfect.

I used 400g blade steak and minced in two batches
2 rashers chopped bacon
2 garlic cloves
1 carrot
1/2 zucchini
1 stick celery
1 onion. - all veg chopped 3 secs speed 5
Splash Oil [not measured but no where near the 50g in recipe]
Increased water to 120 ml and wine 80 ml
1 tbs TM stock paste
Splash of Worcestershire sauce
Splash sweet chili sauce
400g tin chopped tomatoes
200 g tomato purée
Few leaves fresh herbs

I decided to try out the 1 pot suggestion as per one tweak. I softened the spaghetti in the varoma for the first part of the cooking then I added it to the bowl with another good splash of water for the last 20 mins

the end result was very good and the family all loved it.
although I like the idea of less washing up, I think I will cook spaghetti separate next time. I have induction cooktop so water boils in well under a minute so really doesn't take too much longer.
I prefer the sauce over a bed of pasta purely aesthetics as I am sure the taste is the same.
I will definitely be cooking this on a regular basis.

Bread / Mediterranean Loaf
« on: July 01, 2012, 12:38:11 pm »
I have had success making bread in TMX since owning one for two weeks now.  I made the best loaf ever today. It is on the thermovixens.com  website. I put marinated feta sum-dried tomatoes basil and spinach in the middle as well as some Parmesan .  I have found that it is best to put the loaf  back in the oven just on the wire rack for a few more minutes so the bottom firms up, tends to go soggy if left in the tin.  I have no idea how to insert a link or even if it is allowed, but the bread is delicious!

« on: July 01, 2012, 12:30:32 pm »
Hi
I made the Thai chicken and basil from the Nico booklet.  Loved the taste but way too much runny sauce.  would like to make again but not sure whether to ,   Reduce liquid,  cook longer, take MC off or add cornflower towards the end.  any tips on what works best? Thanks

Hi I want to try  fruit bread.it says inEDC you can add fruitin last few seconds of kneading, doesn't say anything about adding sugar, does anyone know how much sugar I would add and when or is the fruit sweet enough already?

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Spatula
« on: June 21, 2012, 02:12:14 pm »
As a new owner I am wondering if I am using the spatula the right way. I have only used the TMX a couple of times and the Spatula is looking a bit chewed!  I hope the little bits of plastic are not in my food?  I don't think it helps that I am left handed.  Any tips on this one? Any left handlers also find the spatula awkward or getting mashed up?

Introduce Yourself / I'm New
« on: May 25, 2012, 11:31:45 am »
Hi. I am Lisa from Perth WA and I have just ordered a TMX.   Delivery in 25 days...and counting.    :) I have chosen not to have a home demo, I have been to a cooking class and have a consultant who is going to provide 1:1 on day of delivery. I can't wait until it arrives!, I am going to be finding out as much as possible about using the TMX before DDay (delivery day) and I hope to learn lots of tips and suggestions for getting to know my machine.  I hope to chat to members over the coming days/weeks.
