I love doing meals on wheels Hally, it's fun. You need to be an animal person to do RSPCA, it's a lot of cleaning and you need the will power not to bring your work home with you IYKWIM? There are a lot of options other than school though.

Wonderful pics Wonder.
Hally what about joining a choir, or finding an adult class to join in something new or both. Art or craft or learn a New language. Then you can practice each week before the next class.
Or helping at your local blind society? My sister used to do asking newspapers. Record the local paper each week .
I have no idea where you live or what is available. I am currently learning to make soap. It is cooking without eating!

Hi Hally my main hobby is Toastmasters it is a wonderful way to improve communication, learn leadership skills and make friends who are like minded. I know a lot of people are afraid of public speaking but all training is provided. Any other Toastmasters out there??

Great photos Wonder. It looks like you had a lovely night. I agree with the other comments, your daughter is the spitting image of you
I would volunteer at meals on wheels if I didn't work full time.

Lovely photo! You must be so proud.
Greyhoundmum, I'd love to be a part of Toastmasters, but don't have a group anywhere near.
Today I went food shopping in our major town - mostly things I can't get here. Took the bandage off the dog's leg tonight.
This dog has cost us a fortune in Vet bills! He jumped off the top deck of a sheep carrier last week and had to have a specialist in Perth operate on his elbow which was dislocated and fractured. We have to keep him rested for 6 weeks!

A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Oh your poor dog how are you supposed to keep him rested for 6 weeks?
He is very cute and yes they sure do cost a fortune our little Maltese Shit-zu had his eyes operated on when he was only 4mths old 12yrs ago and that was nearly $1000 back then. I hope he makes a full recovery

Gorgeous doggy MJ
Such a shame about his elbow though! It sounds very painful
Vet bills are expensive aren't they, but we do love our pets

Oh my MJ, what a nuisance. And working dogs so hard to keep quiet. And worth a lot too, well in UK they are as not so many people can train sheep dogs.
Hope all goes well for his recovery.
Been doing admin, sorting lambs, house and dinner ( never ending). and trying to find DD some where to live for new job in sept, this is very difficult and time consuming.
Ironing after dinner - left over beef/veggies/mash into cottage pie, and braised leeks, left over yorkshires and for afters rice pudding.
Trying to have normal bed time of ten pm tonight . Been getting later cos of Olympics and am not getting good nights. last night almost 11.30pm. Then woke at 3.30 in a storm and stayed awake for hours.

MJ what a nice looking dog, Vet bills are very expensive that's for sure.
my husband had a kelpie working dog, and at 18 months old she was a brilliant dog and very smart. But sadly she was run over when taking sheep across a road
He still hasn't been able to replace her.

I used to do foster care for the Lort Smith Animal Hospital in Melbourne and I had a kelpie to look after for a few months. She'd been ran over in the driveway of her home and her leg was so badly broken that she nearly had to be out down. Luckily the vet who saw was up for a challenge and after lots of surgery her leg is now basically fixed. We had to keep her confined to a crate for a couple of months, even carrying her out to the toilet, then slowly and gradually we could give her more time out of the crate. She also needed a series of injections to help her leg. We looked after her for 6 months and took her back for the 'last time' ready to be adopted and we lasted 1 night without her. We ended up adopting her.
This is all much different because it was her back leg which carries more weight and is hard to favour as opposed to the front leg which a dog can 'look after' a little more.
Now her leg is fine, it's a little stiffer than the other and not quite as much movement because she has a pin in it, and it only gives her grief in really cold weather or when she once got into some macadamia nuts - the nuts made her leg that bad that we thought the pin had moved.
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is try using a crate to keep your dog rested. I used to keep Jess' in the lounge room so she was always part of what we were doing.
This isn't a very clear photo but it really does show one of the reasons we had to keep her - this is her nature. She's a big softy.
