Cookie, sounds yummy. My Sri Lankan neighbours gave me some custard squares. I think they are a traditional dish. They are flavoured with Srar Anise I think. Unusual and very nice.

Made waffles with boys from next door. They weighed the ingredients into the TMX and also cooked them. And of course ate them. Must post this recipe as I have fiddled with the Jamie Oliver original and think this is better. Will post on my Blog now that it is working again.

Giving the TMX a workout today. More citrus marmalade. More SD crumpets also. Cook both at same time. More cream of celery soup. Added marinated goats cheese ( Meredith) and parsley to the last serve. I was told yesterday that my SD crumpets were better than those served at a local cafe. There are now 3 lots of commercial SD crumpets available in Ballarat. ( that I know of.) one lot comes from NSW. $2 each. The ingredients for 8 costs $3.

Cooked a chicken. Cut it in half and roasted half on top of pumpkin and potatoes. Served with spinach.2 meals. The other half Merango casserole. Both cooked in oven at same time. Trying to save power. Yesterday was the first day since last Summer that I have had the heater on all day and night. It has been very cold.

Marina, what a lovely well earned break. Cookie, hope the bus trip to Super office was worth the effort. Today I finally was able to get into my blog. I’ve been locked out for a lot a year from adding new recipes. Very frustrating. However I now can’t get into Snap Recipes. I’ve spent hours trying all suggestions. The Tai Chi classes are having a holiday. Same as school hols. I’m trying to work out how to access a class on line. GS may help. Get car back today. Have enjoyed driving the van. Sit up high and very responsive. Sunshine yesterday. Everyone was out walking. More for the remaining week. I’m taking my Little neighbour to the pictures tomorrow , I think he is looking forward to the popcorn and other rubbish more than the film.

Go Judy, go. Mag, how annoying. Today was much better. Made 2 loaves. Both good. New hearing aids great. Good gym session. Gave Ral’s Akubra hat to a handicapped chap at the Gym. He was tickled pink. Gave me a hug!! Friend’s birthday tomorrow. She is coming for lunch.

Cookie, some staff at the banks are so hopeless, and others very good. My hearing aids have been playing up. They are replacing them for free.they are just 1 month still under warranty. I think that makes for 3 annoying things this week. Car, burnt bread and hearing aids.

More cream of celery soup as we are back to winter today. Perhaps some SD crumpets to go with it.

Mab, have been thinking of you. Lovely to have such a caring DIL. Yesterday was a day from hell. Car could be driven. Lights flashing and saying no lights and no power steering. I rang Mercedes and they said I would have to have it towed to them. I was expected at Probus for induction. Family and neighbours all away. I rang one of the Probus ladies and she picked me up. Then insisted on driving me to the podiatrist for an appointment. What a treasure. Today car towed and I ‘ borrowed ‘ my DD car. Cooking while home, another disaster. Think I’ll go to bed early. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Oh Cookie that is so sad. Hope the new one has an interesting name. When I had Chooks I found that there were very few vets who were familiar with their needs. However I had a school colleague who knew a great deal. He was better than any vet that I had access to.

Cookie I’ll be interested to see how you go. The loaf that I made that included rolled oats and marmalade and dried sour cherries was lovely in both flavour and texture. It is a very good alternative loaf for a fruit loaf. I’ll make it again but in the TMX and oven, not the bread machine. To see how it goes.
