Mab, you and your tomatoes are amazing . I have only one bush of small tomatoes and I enjoy picking a handful each morning. I cut some in half, mixed them with olives and basil from the garden and olive oil. Very tasty side. When we have a glut of homegrown produce it is challenging.
The local Spanish restaurant in Ballarat, serve good bread, toasted and rubbed with a clove of garlic and a raw tomato, with a drizzle of good olive oil. It is one of my favourite dishes there.

Trying a new recipe. Lemon and garlic prawns over rice with silverbeet mixed through. Fresh plums from next door.

Thank you to all the brave people fighting the fires. I think everything to do with the management of the fires has improved,
Last night I went out with a neighbour for Dinner. There are several Cocktail bars in Ballarat, that serve food. 3 are owned by the same people. Iíve been to 2 and am not impressed. Last night, without asking , all the food was brought to the table at the same time. That is the shared starters and mains. The food was just ok.
Of the 3 meals that I have had out recently only one has been good and that was at a pub.

No cooking, too hot.
The producer of a tv cooking show is the niece of yesterday visitors. They showed her my Blog. She is very interested in what Ď old Ď people are cooking. She also said that the Brazilian Cheese Puffs were all the rage at the moment. She comes from Perth.

Had a lovely day yesterday with visitors. I was about to buy a new Dyson Vacuum Cleaner, but they showed me how to throughly clean the old one. I now have a new/ old cleaner.
Today is going to be very nasty. Bush fires still not out, north of Ballarat. DD is bringing Teddy the bull dog over to stay with me. Iím sure we will have a fine time both doing nothing.
KAtie, I hope you are ok.

Cookie, itís so good that DH gets out and around. Nice photo.
Last night DD took me out to dinner. The restaurant is on the lake, next to the boat club the she is involved with. She is encouraging families to use the facilities with BBQ etc for their entertainment when not in use. We watched a family have a picnic on the pier and then have a paddle in small boats. Good family fun and costs them nothing.
The young man I taught to make bread and SD crumpets has become  really enthusiastic and sent me photos of his efforts. He and his partner own a hotel in Ballarat. They have leased the dining facilities out. It has been a disaster. He suggested that I might like to run cooking classes there. I think Iím too old for such a commitment but could probably help them set up a cooking school there. We will see.

K Atie, working in this hot weather is difficult, especially with the fires.
Cookie, that is sad. So young.
We have had a lot of smoke and black ash falling on Ballarat. Several people I know have been evacuated.
Yesterday I moved some of the furniture around in the sitting area upstairs. Think itís better.
