Well, this is my first review, but since no-one else seems to have done it yet, here goes...
Made the Sugar and Spice mix, and WOW it smells delicious!! The orange peel particularly appeals to me :)
The recipe was nice and easy - once you've made the sugar mix, there's not a lot else to it. ;D It was very crumbly, as warned in the recipe, so took a bit of kneading to come together.
I refrigerated it as per instructions, but it came out rock hard! I just left it on the bench until it was manageable.
Cooked 10 mins and looks fab - often my oven seems to cook a little hot/fast with some older recipes, so it was great to see that I should be able to follow these recipes without worrying about burning!
And the result - delicious!!

Wow, lovely looking cookies.
-
They look great Jo! ;D
Can I ask what you used to get the picture on top of them?
-
I have little cookie stamps, which are little silicon circles, so I just roll a ball and press down. :D From Stampin Up, who I buy my card-making supplies from.
-
Great idea Jo and they look great :D
-
Look great Jo. I like how you've stamped them too. :D
-
These look really superb jo nz! thanks for the comprehensive review, too! I'd love to try these but I doubt they'll come anywhere near these nifty ones!! ;D
-
Yum Jo they look wonderful
-
These were a HUGE hit!!!
I think I will have to make the sugar mix as a gift for a couple of the guests, it was so popular.
-
Gee they do look great Jo, yum. And obviously they went down well :)
-
Your cookies look great and even better with the stamp effect! Thanks for the detailled review too!

From Stampin Up,
HOw easy was this! Found a demonstrator just a short distance from me who sent me the online catalog . . OMG - this will be disastrous ;D ;D ;D Have ordered the cookie stamps and also some cellophane bags that I've been looking for for ages - and will pick them up around mid week. Thanks jo-nz!

-
oops! Am I allowed to post the link to the catalogue here? Moderators, please advise and you or I can delete if necessary . . . .
-
Yes, it's a slippery slope...I only heard of them last year and already have quite a collection (I am not a demonstrator)... :-[
But yes, super easy and great for gifts. Must get some cello bags too...last time I gave them in a sistema box and didn't get it back, and would rather not do that too often!
Had more comments about the cookies, so adding a few more batches of sugar to my to-do list...perfect for the few families we do xmas gifts with - I always give cookie cutters or xmas craft things to do. So a batch of the plus instructions of what to add is great.

The cellophane bags are on p 161 of the catalogue ;D ;D
-
are you sure its page 161
-
found them on page 163 ;D

Glad to hear they were a hit nz jo.. Love the cookie stamps!
-
I'm sure the catalogue link is fine. After all it is encouraging us to use our thermomix more.
-
Thanks, Cookie1 :D :-*
-
Your cookies look amazing Jo, tho much paler than mine?? Perhaps the darkness of the sugar you used. I love the stamps and thanks thanks thanks for posting the catalogue link…a whole new way to get a tax deduction for me!!
Merry Christmas to me! :D
-
Hahaha, yes surely a business expense! I make thank you & xmas cards for our customers, so must be deductible.
I think that's partly my "lovely" camera - they were darker than that pic shows. But yes, I was a little short of sugar and used partly regular soft brown sugar. Got some more of the good stuff in this week's shopping, so will make again and see how different they look (any excuse to make more).
-
I made these for christmas and although I thought they were OK they didn't receive rave reviews compared to the family shortbread recipe.
-
I made these a couple of weeks ago, and am making them again right now.
My cookies were darker than Jo's too, they looked like gingerbread not shortbread. At first I was worried if these would be too spicy for the kids, but they are awesome. Thanks Tenina for another great recipe.
