Went into Castlemaine early in the morning to get a few odds and ends that I needed and got held up by a 'parade' of trucks!  The annual Truck Show was on just out of town and all the trucks were spruced up and they drove through Castlemaine then on to Campbells Creek where the camp site was.  I got caught waiting for them all to pass - I estimate a couple of hundred in all.  The run from Castlemaine to Campbells Creek normally takes 5 minutes - it took me 1 1/2 hours!!!

DD took me to the Black Friday sales yesterday.  I bought some new bed linen, a couple of Christmas presents and a copy of the RTE Dinner Book.  We then went out for lunch to our favourite Italian restaurant.  A  nice day out but very tiring.

K Atie I feel for you with DML in hospital.
We have a very small area of lawn out the front of our new home. Ral said he would like to mow it. ,! So we bought an electric mower. All the clippings go into a Green Bin. ( new experience for us) He really isn’t up to doing this , however it he wants to have a go this is good. Neighbours who drove by waved and gave him thumbs up.
The lift is wonderful. Best money we have ever spent, ( next to TMX of course. )  we go up and down frequently and I have set up a coffee/ tea station upstairs. I’ll try taking some videos and post.
Visited big shopping center,  10 minutes away.
We still need to reduce furniture. Sell or give away but needs to go.

Good to see you’re getting into the neighbourhood facilities Chookie. The lift will make your lives so much easier and good on Ral for wanting to help out with household chores.

That all sounds lovely Chookie. I’m sure Ral felt so helpful “helping” out. I think it’s a male thing. 😀😀😀😀

We went over to see my brother today. It’s his birthday soon, but I will be on Jury Duty on the day.

Glad to hear that you are settling in, Chookie.  Getting the lift installed was a brilliant idea and will make your lives so much easier.  It is a very positive thing for Ral to be mowing lawns, even if it may be a bit beyond him, it will give him some feelings of normality and positivity in his days.

Today we are going to our storage unit to collect a few things.
I bought a new door mat at Provincial and during a heavy downpour it leached out brown dye. Looks awful. Tried to remove it but didn’t work. A trip to Bunnings to get some help.
Have advertised some more things to sell.
Finally got in touch with cabinet maker. Will come next week but won’t be doing anything until after Xmas.
Did the gardening , took 1 hour. !! Vacuumed whole house in 1/2 hour.
Was worried about BBQ , not to worry as everyone is doing it.
Neighbour from Invermay coming to visit this afternoon. She has been keeping an eye on Ral as she is an experienced cancer nurse. We are so very lucky.

2 more of our neighbours from Invermay are coming for morning tea next Tuesday. They are bringing cake.  ;D. Things are starting to feel a little more ‘normal’.

It sounds like you’ve settled in nicely Chookie. At our age, those cleaning times sound perfect to me so enjoy all the free time you’re going to have. I hope you find something that will get that stain out of the verandah, that’s not good at all.

Now I am up for another crown , one tooth has cracked in three places yikes ! New year special for me ! We decided last night was so warm that a wine bar was to go so an Aperol was enjoyed ! Home to 32 degrees, cats are flat cats to hot but so nice  too . While we were away BIL collect DS and then feed the boys dinner , very kind . They are trying to eat up MILs freezer food I think .

Ral and I had our first day off in months. We went to Creswick to order some Xmas pastries. There is the most amazing French Patisserie there. We had coffee and Danish pastry sitting outside. It was so nice ( though we were in France);we decided to stay for lunch. As I have thrown out a lot of clothes, I bought a new summer jacket.  Amazing what a lift a little retail therapy does. Rubylala brand. Never heard of it.
We had our first touch of Summer yesterday. Can’t open any of the upstairs windows. One of the little problems encounter when you buy a house that hasn’t been lived in. We have a list of small things that need attention.
Tested oven with thermometer and it seems accurate. No steam and fan seems very harsh. 2 oven, both the same. Might make some Portuguese custard tarts to try it out.
