I’m experimenting with potato bread. Yesterday I made a small loaf using Deb potato. Next, mashed potato and potato water. The Deb loaf was very nice with a very fine crumb. Cookie how frustrating with that recipe from Cookidoo. I find that more often than not, I read through a recipe and do a mental check to see if it will work.

Mab, sorry to hear that. Cookie, how exciting. Go talk about bread if you feel like it. You certainly know a lot. I’m sure you would inspire them. Yesterday was very full. DS and GC came from Melbourne to visit. I got up early and prepared the makings of make your own pizza for lunch. Also prepared waffle batter for morning tea. Massive bowl of berries for Sweets. None of this happened because as they walked in the door, they said Farmers market is on, want to go? I have been in Ballarat for 8 years and have never been to the market. It was great. We all had fun. We all had a sausage in bread and I had a coffee. They ate donuts. I talked to a stall holder who makes her own Brioche pastries and people who sell kits to grow exotic mushrooms. No one wanted lunch when we arrived home. Had waffles for afternoon tea. My next door neighbour arrive home from OS. Very ill. I asked if she needed anything. She asked for a honey sandwich. She lives by herself and no sound from her all day. I was worried and called a friend who knows her and is a nurse. We finally aroused her and she was very ill. Took her to the hospital where she was admitted. Think she has Pneumonia. Friend came for a late dinner. We ate the pizzas and fruit salad.

Made 2 new dips today. A roast pumpkin one that had ground almond added. An unpeeled clove of garlic, thyme and rosemary were also roasted with the garlic. Also a red capsicum dip which included pine nuts. Both nice. Marina, yes that was Alyce’s recipe. It is well worth making. I’ve been using it in cooking. Also made a Skinny mixers seed butter. This is more like peanut butter. Would be nice with banana on toast. Made a small loaf in bread machine. Next door neighbour arrived home from holiday os. Very ill. asked her if she would like anything to eat. She said a honey sandwich. I was glad I had fresh bread.

Still struggling with food for one. Seems to expand in the pan while I’m cooking it!! However I wait all year for the spring Asparagus to appear. It has finally hit the shops at an almost reasonable price. I made some soup with the stalk of a Cauli and Asparagus and chicken stock. Lovely. Asparagus tiny Quiche today. Tomorrow home grown Chinese veggies , Asparagus and beef stir fry.

Several friends have just purchased Bread Machines and asked if I had any interesting recipes. I found a book put together by two American woman called Bread Machine Majic. The online book is very amateurish.and difficult to use. However the recipes lovely and very different. Many recipes contain Rolled oats. I searched the internet and have bought a print version. Yesterday a neighbour gave herself a 40 th Birthday party. It was great fun. I have never seen so much food. Mostly kid friendly stuff. I took a tray of Portuguese Custard tarts. They weren’t my best effort as I refrigerated them as I made early in the morning. However everyone loved them. Today I’m attending afternoon tea with the Probus ladies group. My little neighbour and his brother loved Ninja Turtles and as suspected really enjoyed their popcorn and other very unhealthy stuff. They also showed me how to get uTube and play a Tai Chi exercise video. We made Waffles for morning tea which they ate with Maple Syrup and cream. They said, best waffles ever. Had a surprise phone call from a lovely friend yesterday.
