Bread / Re: SOUPER BOWL ROLL- TMX Calendar 2011
« on: June 19, 2012, 11:34:11 am »
I had a go with this tonight and not having had much experience in bread making, we ended up just eating them as rolls. My problem was when I divided them up into rolls and then let them rise a bit more. They seemed to rise outwards and ended up looking like pancakes! I put them in a tray so they were touching and let them rise and cook like that. They turned out to be beautiful rolls but they weren't crusty enough for me to see working when scooping them out, even when popped back in the oven. What am I doing wrong, was the mix too wet?

Thanks

Introduce Yourself / Re: New from Adelaide

The village is in Aldinga, and I think mine is the 6th in the village! Not too shabby out of 100 households. The straw is amazingly insulative, we didn't have a day of heating (only for an hour in my little mans room when he was very sick, only cos we felt like we needed to do something) in the year and a half we've been there and we only have ceiling fans but people always ask if we have air con. Thanks for the welcome!

Introduce Yourself / New from Adelaide
« on: January 09, 2012, 11:05:45 am »
Hello! I got my thermomix a couple of days before christmas (there was a lot of breathe holding) and I am hooked. I cooked before but more as a means to an end (ie eating) but now I find myself playing and experimenting more and doing things I didn't have the confidence to try before.
I am a stay at home mum of two little one DD3 and DS1 and we live in an ecovillage in Adelaide, we are owner builders of a strawbale house (we have finished the house but lots still to do) we have a productive vegie garden and lots of fruit trees around the village to pick from. I am really keen to reduce the amount of packaged goods and less money spent at the supermarket and more at the farmers markets and health food shops.
I have tried quite a few things now and haven't really had a failure yet. Pavolva, ice cream cheesecake, bread, pesto scrolls, lots of sorbet, mango chicken, risotto, soups, zucchini cake, bangers and mash, crackers, muffins and more. Finding lots of helpful tips and people on here. Thankyou!

I tried this tonight, and it wasa great success! But it really looked like none of the photos posted. I added mushrooms to the gravy but maybe too many as the potatoes ended up sitting in the gravy and so ended up grey! It took a little while to convince DD4 to eat it (she had declared she didn't like gravy), but when she and DS1 tried it they were hooked. But did I do something wrong that the potatoes were such a bizzare colour?
