5 in 1 cooker - disaster!
« on: July 14, 2012, 01:36:16 am »
HELP! Well, i used the ne wave cooker for the first time and fused the place! yeah really. What has gone wrong?

To try out the machine we placed lentils and water upto the minimum of 1/5 of the container. Closed the lid.Turned the knob to air tight (the knob is very wobbly - is it supposed to be wobbly?) it does not click into place which is what I expected.

Turned pc to high and turned timer to 10 mins. Nothing happened. Timer did not count down and then suddenly water overflowed everywhere and the unit turned itself off and fused the joint.

Help!!

Sorry I cant help, but  sympathise I had a few things yesterday using my pc for  the first time. Also the clock does not countdown until it reaches a certain heat or pressure.

My knob does not click into place, it is wobbly too which surprised me.

Someone with the machine will help.

OMG courton!  That's a huge disappointment!!  Surely it's under warranty!   . . . but where was it made?  I do hope a replacement works out successfully . . or they give you your money back!

Sorry can't help. As long as the lentils and water didn't exceed 50% of the PC bowl (sounds like it didn't) and you used at least 1/2 cup liquid it should be fine. Was steam coming out of the valve slowly or fast?

I don't have one of these, but wouldn't the 'wobbly' knob you are referring to be the pressure limiting valve which all pressure cookers have and this allows steam to escape when you are releasing the pressure in order to open the unit? Every pressure cooker has to have one and it is meant to wobble around.

I love mine, i just cooked chicken in it, fished 5 minutes ago.
yes its supposed to wobble.

It doesn't start to count down till  the machine gets up to pressure, then it beeps 3 times when ready.

a bit of steam comes out, then you release the air lock and all the steam comes out.

I would say you had the knob around the wrong way, to automatically  release. :)

I've had nothing but success in my 5 in 1 so can't help much. The valve on mine is wobbly which worried me a little at the start but once you know that's what's is supposed to be you get used to it. The only thing I can think of is that you had it on the browning function rather than pc?

I had it on PC and the water overflowed and the steam was whooshing every where - a sight to behold! I am too scared to go near it now. Will call the distributor on Monday and find out more about the appliance.
