Thanks for the advice Yvette.  Some of the recipes in the booklet have lots of liquid and  then cornflour to thicken.  Boring.

Gretchen, I never brown the meat first, and just throw things in.
don't put too much liquid in..

Gert this is my favourite slow cooker meal.

http://www.thekitchn.com/my-favorite-dinner-party-dish-braised-beef-187180

I freeze the left overs and we have it stuffed into those massive pasta shells with some extra pasta sauce and covered in cheese.

I am on my third slow cooker and it's the 5 in1.  I love it because the pan has the browning feature so I do everything in the one pan now - brown, slow cooker and then reduce and thicken the sauce.  I would never buy a slow cooker without a browning feature now.

Forgot to add my shopping!

Bout this pyramid pan, supposed to help crisp food up in the oven

And a couple of these Anna Gare containers - Cookie jar, sugar jar and I am now on the lookout for the tea jar.  I also got the matching oven mitt

And a new circulon commercial frypan from Victorias basement on the weekend!

I went to the Myer stocktake sale last night. I stayed well away from the kitchen/homewares level. DH got a suit for 40 percent off & some cute high top sneakers for DD :)

That is what I am thinking. I bought. The Australian Woman's Weekly  Slow Cooker 3 on my iPad last night. Cost me 10 bucks and it failed to download. I am fast losing interest in the slow cooker.

Thanks snappy for the yummy recipe. I did look at the five in ones but I really wanted an oval one  and they had no  5 in 1 oval at Myer
