Just bought second hand TM31 - no instructions/recipes
« on: December 18, 2016, 11:37:27 pm »
Hi everyone,

I have decided to buy a secondhand TM31 but it doesn't come with any instructions or recipes, and obviously no demonstrator!! Wondering what is the best way to get to know my machine and which basic recipes to try when it arrives?

Thanks

 :)

Hello and welcome. You have probably come to the best place.
I have put a link here for you to have a look at the instruction manual online and hopefully download it.
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/859217/Vorwerk-Thermomix-31.html
It may be best for you to have a look at that when you receive your machine and then come back here and we will happily answer your questions.

Do you have a friend who has a thermomix? Where are you located, that may help a little as someone may be interested in helping personally.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Hi Chockafrolic, welcome to our forum.  Am I right in presuming you are from the UK?  If so then it's certainly soup season over there so check out some of our soup recipes.  You have the added bonus on here of people reviewing our recipes so that makes it easy to pick something that is a real winner.  What a pity the machine isn't coming with some recipe books, perhaps you could buy some from here http://thermomix.vorwerk.co.uk/thermomix-cookbooks/.

There are heaps of free UK recipes here http://www.recipecommunity.co.uk/recindex.php

Good luck, I hope you can do as cookie suggested ie find someone who has a Thermomix who can hold your hand whilst you get used to the machine.

You have come to the best place.  Heaps of easy to understand recipes that are proven and reviewed. Start trolling through and go with whatever takes your fancy.
Initially it is such a different way to cook but before long it will be second nature.
Enjoy

I don't know anyone else with a thermomix - it's just something I fancied getting for a while now... but had to go with a cheap second hand one as a new one is out of my price range...  I am based in Plymouth (Devon) in the U.K.

Welcome to the forum, Leah.  You have already received a lot of helpful and good advice from some of our longest forum members so there's not much more I can add.

When I first got mine I didn't know anyone with a TMX either but this forum saved me with all the help and support that I got.  Two things I rapidly found out was that I had to be very organised because some steps go really fast so get all your ingredients out and weighed ready to go before you start, also, don't be put off by all the buttons, the temperature ones equate to the temperature on your stove, the weight function is just like your kitchen scales, the timer is just a timer and the various mixing buttons are simply the same as the speeds on your kitchen mixer.

Finally, on this forum there is never such a thing as a silly question ... after all these years I still have silly questions; you need only ask and someone will always try to help you.
