Hi all,
I'm here to get my thermo-fix until my new baby arrives...just ordered on Tuesday, and trying to be patient. We have been wanting one since we first saw one while on holiday in Perth four and a half years ago! TM wasn't available in NZ then, so it's been a long wait, and so excited to know it will soon have pride of place on my bench, at last.
I have 2 young kids (5 and almost-3), and looking forward to making our family lots of delicious food. We all demolished the sorbet and custard and other goodies that our demonstrator showed us. Hoping to find lunchbox ideas and just general family meals.
My husband is most looking forward to getting rid of all the other kitchen gadgets - bread machine, cake mixer, scales....
Looking forward to sharing and testing lots of delicious recipes here!

Hi Jo, welcome to the forum from an ex-pat Kiwi (Wellington area) - where are you living?
The TMX is a wonderful machine, you will find loads of recipes, ideas and inspiration here. As we have said on this forum before, now is the time to give your home a good clean and stock up your larder because, once your TMX arrives all you are going to want to do is cook! Think about the first couple of recipes you want to try and make sure you have all the ingredients to hand. You are going to have a wonderful time.

Thanks for the welcome!! ;D
Cuilidh - I'm a Welly girl too. Currently in Petone.
Obbie, lalala, not listening....SO don't need more things to spend money on. I'm a bit of a crafty gadget fiend so have o force myself to just that "little" addiction...
I'll stick with just checking out those lunchbox ideas for the moment.

welcome Jo, don't get rid if your bread machine just yet. There are a couple of good recipes here for bread kneaded in TMX and baked in Bread Machine.

Hi Jo and welcome!! You'll find all the help and advice you'll ever need here cooking with your TMX. I thought I'd be getting rid of lots of appliances collected over the years but . . ;D . .I do find having a set of digital scales handy. Look forward to hearing how you're getting along with your much awaited kitchen friend . .!! :D

Jo - You are right in my back yard - or maybe I am in yours ... I'm from Lower Hutt (near Hutt Central School, if it still exists).

Yes, definitely close neighbours!! DD goes to playcentre right next to Hutt Central, and her wee cousin lives just down the road from there (Moa St).

Isn't that funny - the play centre is so close to where I grew up (Bridge Street - in the opposite direction from Railway Avenue to Moa Street). It's so long since I've been there, it has all changed so much. When I grew up in the 60s - 70s there were lots of kids in the area, but as I remember it now it is more light industrial than residential.
I was actually in Petone earlier this year for a friend's 80th pre-birthday party get together. I don't recognise Petone any more either! In fact, I even find Wellington a bit of a challenge - but then I so rarely get the chance to get home to NZ now and every time I am there something has gone and changed on me!

Hello strangers!
It's been a long while since I have posted on the forum, so thought maybe an updated intro would be a good starting point.
It's now coming up to three years since I bought my tmx, so the kids are now 8 and about to turn 6. Both are keen cooks - with and without the tmx.
I have just had a small break from thermomixing and cooking in general - 8 weeks ago I tripped on a friend's front path and broke my ankle. So after surgery and seven weeks in a cast, I am now in a moon boot and trying to get mobile again. Still about 3 weeks until I expect to be driving again - DH has really had to step up with the school runs and kids activities, and we are all looking forward to getting back to normal (although he is planning to keep doing school runs 1-2 times a week).
After my unexpected hiatus I am back on here looking for new inspiration, and revisiting some old favourites.
Looking forward to "catching up" with everyone.

Hi Jo, sorry to hear of your accident. It must be so hard to be a Mum on one leg but it sounds as if DH has stepped up to the plate nicely. It won't be long now and you'll be back to normal and won't that be nice. The forum has been very quiet of late but seems to be picking up a bit now so we welcome you back with open arms.
-
Good to see you back on the forum again, Jo. Take care of that ankle and hope you get your TMX mojo back soon.
-
Nice to have you back Jo. So sorry to hear about your accident and hope you will be running around very soon!!
-
Welcome Jo. I'm sorry to read about your accident. I've missed you.
-
Welcome back on the forum again Jo. Take care of your ankle and I hope it won't be long before you are back running around again.
-
Welcome back Jo.Sorry to hear about your accident.Wishing you all the best on your recovery :-*
-
Hi jo good to hear from you. Your injury sounds no fun at all. Good luck with the rest of your recovery.
-
On that sounds nasty Jo. I'm glad DH was able to get the kids sorted. Speedy recovery from here, lovely to see you back.
-
Hi Jo, nice to have you back. I kept thinking about you but knew something must have happened and that you would post when ready. Hope you can move around a bit better in the moon boot.
-
Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes!
I have been so grateful again for the tmx during my recovery - makes things so much easier. Trying a new curry tonight with rice (and store bought naan - too long standing to make my own just yet)
I was actually a little concerned in the first week or so of my recovery...DH had been using "my" tmx (usually he doesn't get a look in), and it kept coming up with an error message. I suspect he had been putting the bowl back wet. It has stopped doing it, so fingers crossed it is all okay under the hood! Otherwise that would be an expensive consequence of tripping over!
-
My DH did that when I was recovering from back surgery last year, when he used the machine under my guidance. He got quite cross with it at times. I would have to sneakily dry it. (if I could)
-
Oh no Jo, take care. :o
Hope the recovery is speedy and hitch-free :-*
