DJ's muesli
« on: April 08, 2014, 10:03:13 pm »
We have this every day and love it. It is sugar free.

It contains spelt and oats, coconut and walnuts and no wheat.

It can be mixed on reverse or in a bowl.

I usually make double quantity and have weighed the double quantity (in brackets) for those that like weights rather than cups.

3/4 cup rolled spelt (170g)
2 cups jumbo oats (380g)
1 & 1/2 cups porridge oats (340g)
1/2 cup coconut flakes (60g)
1/3 cup small walnut pieces (90)
1/3 cup flaked almonds (70g)

This is the base that stores well. You could vary the nuts.

The extra added part is a mix of
linseeds
Goji berries
Pistachios or other nuts
Blitzed to powder and stored in fridge. Add 1 heaped dessert spoon to serving of muesli each morning. Be sure to use a clean storage jar with each batch.

I vary the quantities. Usually the most linseed then goji then nuts.
Use more linseeds for omega oils and more nuts for vitamin e.

Hope you enjoy as much as we do.
We serve with added fruit, often defrosted blueberries.

Thanks for this DJ. I am thinking of altering my breakfast, after about 35 years, and was thinking of a muesli.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
