Chit Chat / Re: What are you cooking today?

Mab19 - you're so right!! Half way through preparing dinner last night I decided that each TMX should, just as a matter of course, come with two bowls - not just one!! ;)  I wonder how HO would feel about that suggestion!?  I'm seriously considering a second one -( but would it stop there, do you think???? LOL)

Merlin - for  the  GF book- this is just a long shot but maybe you could try the German ebay.  I don't read German so I can't say for sure what's there, but here is the link as it is of today (Jan 4) . . . or just try www.ebay.de and type in thermomix for the search.  Good luck!

Hi Wheels!  Welcome to the forum - it's about the only reference you'll need with your TMX! The moderators are amazing as arethe members - all willing to lend a helping hand.  The amount of information, reviews, feedback and advice is simply incredible :)  (The only drawback is that it's somewhat addictive!! :-)) :-)) )  Good luck and enjoy your TMX - play around with it and don't be afraid to experiment - but you probably know that though seeing you've already adapting your own recipes - wow!!  I'm still learning that end of it!

Many many thanks for this recipe . .I honestly can't remember ever even trying to make scones before - always thought that was the prerogative  of those people who appeared to me to be most mysteriously and unquestionably talented  ;D ;D  Want to try this today and with luck will take them to a friend's afternoon tea :D  Thanks again!

Recipe Requests / Re: Mangoes, mangoes galore!!!!
« on: December 27, 2011, 09:01:13 am »
Just learned today that Calypso mangoes are  genetically modified  and that a certain large grocery chain has refused to buy the fruit from Queensland "because they get spots" and now will only get in the Calypsos that are grown in the Northern Territory.  Qld farmers trucked their produce down to the Sydney markets only to have huge amounts go bad and needing to be thrown out. This horrifies me!

Chit Chat / Re: Orange Blossom and Rose Water
« on: December 24, 2011, 02:49:22 am »
Hi Nola276  -  I'm sorry I don't know about Perth - maybe someone local will be able to help.  I'm in Sydney and have just ordered those from www.herbies.com.au (who are also in Sydney but I find it a lot less stressful buying it online rather than travelling to the other side of the city).  Herbies is really top quality and they send their goods well packed and via express mail.

Both the rose water and the orange blossom water cost $3.60 for 25 mls  and $8.90 for 100 mls. and then there's the shipping which is very reasonable.

Otherwise, if you can hunt down any middle eastern grocery stores they should have them.

Good luck!  and Merry Christmas!! :)

Desserts / Re: Rara's Cherry Bites
« on: December 23, 2011, 05:45:32 pm »
Hi Rara1 - yes thanks! Indeed we did enjoy them! They didn't last long at all - made them as part of dessert for a pre Christmas lunch for my daughter and her partner.  Did half in milk chocolate and the other half in dark.  Couldn't find a Cadbury's dark block so had the Cadbury's milk and Lindt 85% cocoa dark.  The milk choc ones tasted fine but I must say that the Lindt was just so much easier to work with and we had the little balls done in half the time it took with the Cadbury's.  That little dipper/strainer from the Asian grocery shop was just brilliant for dipping the balls into the chocolate.  Thanks again, and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!!

Recipe Requests / Re: banana custard please

Would this help?    Not a TMX but maybe there are forumTMXers who could suggest how to tackle it with the TMX. :)  Be sure to read the comments from those who rated the recipe for other suggestions.

Hi  - found this on the net but haven't tried it. . . . sounds interesting and will try it when we get our mango box later. (It's an American recipe so don't forget to convert oven temps etc.   ;)   I'm still  a comparative newbie - I'd really appreciate it if some kind soul could  suggest how this would go in the TMX?? :)

Cuilidh and judydawn - thank you both very much for clarifying that for me.  And thank you for for answering so quickly!  I'm just in the middle of making these and had used regular cups . . but suddenly it seemed like a heck of a lot of coconut and panic set in!!  :o???  All is well, though - just waiting for them to cool their heels in the fridge before they're dunked into the chocolate.  Really appreciate all the help that's on the forum -  just terrific!! :D

This might sound a very weird question . . . but, Rara (or anyone else who has made these) . . . cups . . .  regular cups or the MC on the TMX???
