Hi,
At the moment I am enjoying Bananas and buttermilk whizzed on the TMX or the CADA breakfast made with the TMX. I am looking for some warming (and filling!) breakfasts which are low fat, gluten free and delicious... any ideas? I should add it needs to be really quick and easy to make before I rush out the door at 7.30 am.

Some new things we're enjoying atm is a sweet fruity quinoa porriage and buckwheat pancakes. (not together)  :)

I am hunting for anything for breakfast ideas lol ... I just can't do the cereal thing any more after a break for months  ;D ;D I tried CADA the other week but found it was just far too sweet for me even with yoghurt  :-[

mmm sweet fruity quinoa porridge sounds nice Nay - how sweet though? Strange isn't it I have a massive sweet tooth yet find things too sweet at the moment. Must be the conscious decision I made about eliminating sweet things from my diet  :)

i made it with polenta, brown rice flakes, or quinoa (or you could do a mix). i liked it VERY thick so you might want to adjust that.

We love breakfast muffins - bake them sometime that suits you and you can just heat them up in the morning.

Or what about omlettes or frittatas.  Could set in the varoma, jump in the shower, and it would be ready when you are.  That way something that takes 10 or so minutes feels instant.

Sometimes I make a batch of the rice porridge (brown rice) from the baby section of the EDC, but add things to make it more adult friendly. Follow the directions in the EDC and once it's cooked, add some milk of your choice, some agave nectar or honey, and some cinnamon, brown sugar, or vanilla; stewed fruit and walnuts etc. It's quite quick to make, and could be going while you're in the shower. It's very filling and warming!
Fresh bread and fresh soup are two of the most wonderful things.

I've been doing something like what's in these links but double the mixture (1 cup of quinoa) adding what ever we have on hand and making it different every time - cranberries, dates or other fruities, banana or pears, walnuts, cashews or almonds using either honey or maple syrup (was going to try agave but not after reading that article!) ;)

I've been doing breakfast in my slow cooker a bit lately.  I soak 2 cups of grains (I use oat groats, spelt and brown rice) in water with 2 tbsp of apple cidar all day.  At night I rinse the grains well, add 4 cups of water, 2 cups of milk, the grains, 2 peeled & diced apples, a slosh of maple syrup and some cinnamon and cook on slow all night (no more than 8 hours).  The next morning I serve it as a hot cereal with fruit and yoghurt.  DH isn't keen on it but the kids and I gobble it up. I found the recipe on a blog but can't find it again. It makes heaps.

Depending on the grains you use it could be a gluten free breakfast. :)

I never knew that! Well I am just about out of it, so I'll wash the dregs out and not get it again. This is the end of the first jar I've ever used, and I did think it tasted very refined - the sweetness is very "high" toned, if you know what I mean??? I had my suspicions.
I bought it from a bulk buy section of a wholefoods shop, it was labelled organic but I don't know which brand anymore.

there is a protein shake in Cyndi's Healthy Eating book. it is a powerhouse of goodness, and very thick and filling until about 11ish

Going GF for DD at the moment and used the banana bread recipe from here with some dates added and just substituted the flour for some supermarket GF SR Flour (yes, I cheated but when I get time will look up some of the GF flour mixes and make my own). It was lovely, lightly toasted - just to warm it really with some butter. Yum!

the banana & blueberry bread recipe from the GFWF cookbook is really nice and easy too - i actually just chuck everything in and mix, don't bother following the instructions  8)
but, i don't find it all that filling, especially not compared to my green smoothies ;)

Gluten free pancakes are yummy. I haven't made my own, but have used packet ones before. I don't imagine it would be too hard to work out a mixture - rice flour, maize flour, gluten free baking powder and a little salt and sugar.

I prefer savoury breakfasts, so if I'm going GF,  I go for things like congee.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.
