Thanks for the laugh, I can't remember ever seeing this thread before.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

I guess one of my my most embarassing moments was our house-warming party.  We had invited several neighbours, whom we didn't really know at all well at that stage, as well as lots of friends to join us "around mid-day" - never expecting anyone to turn up until at least 1.00 pm ... or even 2.00 pm; but, no, these a country people and if they are told noon, then noon it is.  I knew a couple did not drink alcohol, so I had bought all the usual culprits for them, orange juice, lemonade, coca cola, etc.

We were not quite prepared when they started arriving and I was in such a flap I asked one of our friends to look after drinks.  She came up to me to ask for drinks for the non-boozers and I forgot all about my vast store of appropriate drinks and said "... just give them water." Not a very gracious hostess at all - I forgot all about this until the next day when I saw all the oj, lemonade, etc. sitting, unopened, in the larder.  I am sure (or I hope) that they have forgotten, but I still cringe to this day when I think about that.

I'm sure your hostess skills have vastly improved since that party Marina but I'm sure they still remember it LOL.

I had a very embarrassing moment this morning.....
Dropped miss 6 at school, to be met with the news that she'd told the teacher yesterday "mum and dad mate in the laundry every night when dad gets home from work" .... :/
I very smartly asked her what she meant - to find that she thinks two people kissing on the lips is "mating" :[
Oh boy........
:D

That's a classic astarra, I hope she doesn't give too many more of your habits a strange name LOL.

Thanks for the chuckle Astarra. It reminded me of something DD told her kindy teacher many years ago. Her teacher was very straight laced and asked DD what she did on her holidays. She said drank sherry and learned to play poker!  She was allowed a sip of sherry and yes we did teach her poker, we were in Exmouth and we played cards in the evenings. I think snap must have got a bit boring!
