LOL....it's funny you mention this Sim.
I have had a some digs/jabs  in fun (I think  :-\), at the taste forum previously re:Thermy.....so very tongue in cheek, I made my forum signature as " Thermomix Cult Member  ;)".....maybe some think I'm serious   :P

I really don't think the way they are sold really helps with the stigma attached, but hands down, purchasers benefit from demonstrations and those who have committed consultants.....that you cannot buy from the shelves.
I see this forum as nothing but positive and helpful, so we are the lucky ones  :)

Found this to read  ;D

Not everyone is keen!

That is one weird uninformative ramble.  I'm confused as to what a tmx does now, and there's one in my kitchen  ;)

ETA (hit post before I meant to) I'm sure "we" (ie me) do sound a bit fanactical about the joys of TMX - only because I use it so much more than I imagined, and it is just so versatile - I wish someone had raved to me more about it so I'd have got it sooner! LOL

Wow. That article is the rantings of an angry TM hater. Funny how the author invents other 'miracle' appliances based on the washing machine and vaccume cleaner. I think that they over looked that both appliances cost well into the $100's but only perform one simple but time consuming task, cleaning.

You don't really hear "$1000 for something that just washes clothes?!?" you're more likely to be thought of as a weirdo for not owning one and washing everything by hand.

TM is like a washing machine for the kitchen. It makes cooking easier.

Ahahaha. To funny!!!!, well if it is a cult I read the forum on tapatalk with my morning cup of tea like the daily ritual.
Then again during the day as if I can't cook without the guidance of the TM forum. Lol or I may have to convert to highly processed flavourless cuisine or take away as my punishment!!!!

It sounds like the uninformed speaking. I am happy to be a thermo cooking cult member. I have a close friend who always asks 'was this cooked using the thermometer mixer'. He can't afford one but appreciates it. Others receive gifts from it and love it, but once again could never afford one.

I must admit when I first read about it on www.taste.com.au many years ago I didn't believe one machine could do so much. When I saw one I was hooked as was DH. I would probably have bought one earlier if it wasn't the way they were sold. I don't like it. But then I must admit it is handy to have a consultant to ask questions of. The forum was my consultant initially, thank goodness for it.
I have got so much from my machine by using the forum.

I actually had one of our male friends wanting a demo since whenever he plays golf one of his group goes on and on and on about TMX! So he wants to see it in action! And...he says I speak like his golf pal whenever I open my mouth about TMX!!!

Yup definitely a cult, ESP when we start trying to recommend / generally talking about them to others :)

Much like iPad owners are part of a cult  8)
