My Mum used to make a yummy batter and dip thick slices of corned beef in before shallow frying them. Served with tomato sauce, of course,  mashed potatoes, peas and corn.

I overspent by $25 last week, but did buy a lot of chuck steak and chicken thighs for the freezer. I entertained on two occasions, one being a family curry night where I fed 10 people. Also had sister and BIL for three days over the weekend. So, not too disappointed. I won't spend much this week so that will make up for it.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I went to the supermarket with the kids today and spent $3 as the kids wanted some more pomegranates. I am still about $20 under, but I may need bread before Friday.
I have had a go at summarising all of this information into a spreadsheet. I have probably made lots of mistakes, so please let me know and I will update it with the correct information. Here goes!

My vegies and milk are still going fine from last week's shop so I don't know when I'll be shopping this week.

Sitting in the car park outside Woolies and feeling a wee bit guilty about buying a whole chicken. But it was only $2.99 a kilo. Only $6.20 added to my veggie buying but it looks like the duck might be next week now.

I should not have gone to that section. Bad Gert.

Did my weekly shop today - added to my Aussie farmers delivery total comes to 102.74. I did get some pantry items which probably could have waited until next week, plus a chook which wasn't on the shopping list, my bad! Getting low on meat though - found some lamb shanks in the freezer, been there 6 months. Can I still use them you think?

That article and the comments that go with it are very interesting. I agree with many and really wonder at her motives behind sticking with the $21 per week. You need to live a little and you can't take it all with you so you may as well enjoy your life as much as possible with what you have. Agree about not going into debt and spending unnecessarily but she seems to have taken it to the extreme - I wouldn't want to be growing up in that household.

I think we could all live on $21 a week, say one week every 2 months. ( 6 times a year) :)

put the extra money away for something else.
Clean out fridge and pantry and use whats there.

my pantry is so full.

Well I ain't  going into the Gallo Dairy. They charge $100 a kilo for very ordinary chocolates and the cheese is very ordinary as well as the place being totally user unfriendly and disorganised.

I bought $80 worth of coffee last month  so I am good for a few more weeks.

I am being really careful and it surprises me. The dogs are doing well out of the pantry reduction plan,   barley, quinoa , flax seeds, pasta etc.

We will leave after the morning traffic.
