He will probably throw my quail in the bin Katie.  I'd better get there before he comes home from work LOL

I have found my free range chook and decided on my recipe. Now barring broken teeth, crook hips and ill BIL's we should be able to have it tomorrow night.

Sorry Gert, I won't be participating in this challenge as Katie was unable to find some quail for me today in all the places she visited.
I look forward to seeing all the recipes from those taking part and thank you for putting a little excitement into the forum with the idea of another challenge - we haven't had one for a while.

Would be a major challenge here to even find the quail.  Sorry I cannot join in, we have had quail before I cooked them many moons ago from a recipe from the Womens Weekly. They were stuffed with a almond rice seasoning and served with a grape & grape juice  sauce which had port in it.,   I also boned them out before stuffing as it was for a dinner party . We did enjoy them.

Like you Marie, no quail round here. It is my excuse for using a chicken in a way I wouldn't do otherwise. I can't wait to see all the quail or spatchcocks.
Gert are you making quail porridge, or bacon wrapped quail for breakfast?  I'm looking forward to seeing it tomorrow.

I'm stll  trying to get either spatch cock or quail for tomorrow night. If I can't get the ingredients I may have to go a red meat dish for Saturday or Sunday cos after that its back down to one person (moi) again. Have found a lovely spatchock chargrill recipe.

Let the challenge begin. The reason I was up so late was so I could put the small slow cooker on and have my first ever slow cooked quail for breakfast. This was a great way to start and the "meat" fell of the bone . DH declared it a success and a lovely start to the weekend. He is looking forward to Quail later in the day as he actually contributes to the cooking of. So stand by for a combined effort in episode 2 of my challenge.

Slow cooked quail. Just chuck it all in and go to bed.

I made salt and pepper baked quail last night and served it on chicken ravioli with a sort of carbonara sauce.

The quail was really delicious, not gamey at all but was a nice full flavour with a hint of sweetness, which went lovely with the salt and pepper combination.

We all thoroughly enjoyed it and I will be cooking them again.

Have a couple of photos but can't post them.
