Chit Chat / Herb / Spice Salt recipe
« on: July 16, 2011, 02:58:42 pm »
Hi Everyone,
In my wanderings around the net I came across a 'salt' recipe .. possibly herb/spice mix which I though I had bookmarked, but unfortunately cannot find.  It was written by someone who had bought this 'salt' overseas but then could not get it again and came across another recipe which was even better.  It requires a range of items to be put into the oven before they are ground.  I have tried searching this forum with a range of key words but have not had any luck.
If you know what I am talking about by my ridiculous description, please let me know.
Cheers,
Chris

Chit Chat / Thank you
« on: June 03, 2011, 02:45:56 am »
I am sitting here spending all my time reading the forum which I love (on my day off) in total awe of the wonderful community.
The members are just so helpful.
When I finally get going I usually am too overwhelmed to actually make anything.
My neighbour is coming around this evening for a glass of wine and a 'chicken tikka' making session.  That is the one thing I have managed to master, and she wants it for her dinner.
I am going to try the 'Spicy tomato and chickpea soup' and maybe some bread today.  Wish me luck.
My last bread 'naan' episode was not all that successful - tasted yum, but did not rise.
Back to the drawing board.
Thanks again for all your help.

Introduce Yourself / My Thermomix Adventure
« on: April 05, 2011, 01:03:32 pm »
Hi Everyone,
I stumbled across Thermomix while googling for recipes, and decided that I had to have it primarily because I am a kitchen appliance addict, and I could not find any negative reviews, which I thought was pretty amazing.  I justified the price by making it a 50th birthday present to myself from everyone I know ... they actually don't know yet, and my birthday is about 9 months away.  1 demo later, I was a bit unsure but purchased in anyway.  Unfortunately it arrived when I got ridiculously busy at work and it has not been used all that much, and I have had a few disasters with it and very limited success.
Anyway, work has finally calmed down and I have started looking for recipes so that I can start this adventure.  My younger son just discovered Chicken Kiev (terribly unhealthy bought version) at a friend's house and loved it.  I foolishly gave in and bought some for the family and it was enjoyed by all.  Comments around the table included from me "There is no way we can eat this regularly, or even rarely - it is really unhealthy" to "Maybe you could make that in your thermomix' from son, followed by smirks and giggles around the table.
Imagine my joy when I discovered the Thermomix Chicken Kiev recipe.  I cannot wait to make it.
Looking forward to sharing this adventure with you.
Cheers,
Chris
