I’ve been thinking of you Gert. It certainly seems very wet up there.

Chookie that isn’t good with the lactose intolerance.

I am not lactose intolerant but as DH is I don't use much dairy ... I do miss cheese, though, so treat myself sometimes.  DH has found that he can tolerate some lactose so long as he doesn't over indulge.

GD and her fiance are home from Queensland for a few days.  We are having a family and friends engagement party / Christmas catch up  tomorrow at DS home.  This was just to be a small gathering and has now turned into 50 guests at last count.  DH took our BBQ, a folding table and some chairs out to their today.

Mab, sounds like fun.
Marina, I love cheese and  have tried several lactose free types. Awful. Think I might try a very thin slice of genuine Parmesan and see how I go.
I made some Brazilian Cheese puffs for the street party on Sunday. I used almond milk instead of cow milk. The result was nice but produced a thicker crunchy crust. I think I prefer the thinner crust.

Lactose free options take a lot of experimentation.  Try looking at vegan sites.  If you are stuck let me know and I can give you some links.  In the interim, take a look at this parmesan recipe from Minimalist Baker, we have found it to be pretty good taste wise:  https://minimalistbaker.com/how-to-make-vegan-parmesan-cheese/ . Nutritional yeast (a.k.a nooch) is a good source of B12, so that is another plus for this recipe.

What an unusual Christmas for us this year with most of us experiencing cooler than usual weather for this time of the year. Great for a nice hot traditional lunch though. Until late yesterday my Christmas plans were up in the air with SIL having Covid but he tested clear just in time for todays celebrations. Merry Christmas to you all and may the New Year be very kind to us, have a great day.

Not a great time for those with Covid (mind you, it is never a good time to have Covid).  Hope those that are afflicted recover quickly.

Merry Christmas everyone. Here in the West we like to be different to everyone so we have had a very hot day. I think it was around 36°. We always have a cold lunch so it wasn’t too bad. After far too much lunch I had a long Nanna nap.

A very wet day this morning. Hope all your Christmas celebrations were full of laughter and fun . DMIL enjoyed the day , it was good to get her out and she eat a lot and praised the tidy house and the food and enjoyed all her Santa’s that DGS had put out . So much food to eat up ! I’ll be doing what to do with leafy overs for days !! Ham will last and iim sure first to be eaten ! Turkey is the issue but do yum ! Roast beef !! And then they left me with half a pace and chocolate ripple cake , Lordy we will be enormous .

It has been warm cold thunderstorms, lightning. Rolling thunder , cloud formation a true contortion of weather . Fork lightening sheet lightning. Rain hail . Thunder so loud I keep jumping. I love a storm but not the damage and the harvest stopping. We have also had numerous power surges and internet non existent. And the Rams went walk about !! So lucky DH was able to load a truck of oats early this am .
