Title: How to Peel Garlic "video" is up!
Post by: ThermomixBlogger on November 03, 2009, 03:30:42 pm
Hi all!

Forgot to mention that I recently posted a little video "slideo' about how to peel garlic in the Thermomix. This one is for those of us who like to keep cloves whole rather than minced. Whole cloves are great for rubbing on toast for making croutons, or for forcing under the skin of chickens before roasting etc. If you don't care whether your garlic is whole or minced, just do longer bursts.

You can see more here:
http://superkitchenmachine.com/2009/2819/how-to-peel-garlic-with-thermomix.html

(sorry if I posted this in the wrong place...  :-[   the other thread had more to do with how to store garlic so I thought I'd start a new one...)

More videos coming soon!

Cheers,
TMB

You make me blush Elisabet, these are such 'baby videos' ... not even real videos, so I'm calling them 'slideos' because they are more like a slideshow. Soon I am going to buy a video camera because I think people want real videos.

Cheers from the West Coast!

I thought the slideo was great - the videos use more bandwidth and stutter too much with our limited bandwidth in SA - more slideos!

I agree with Shayla, the format is great. It's good to see that there are a few more Thermomix videos or slideos out there in English. In fact, I should have been doing lesson preparation the past half hour but I got side-tracked watching the yoghurt/yoghurt cheese slideo and then discovered that there was another video somewhere else about stir frying in the TMX which I haven't tried yet. Which then led me to Rick's Thermomix blog, etc. etc.

Looking forward to your next slideos ;D

Great Vivacity! I see you found Valerie's fabulous videos for making yogurt cheese and marinated yogurt cheese balls. I didn't want to mention these on the forum because I wanted her to have that pleasure, but yes, they went up last night and I'm glad you spotted them. They are already being much enjoyed at:
http://superkitchenmachine.com/2009/2883/how-to-make-yogurt-thermomix.html

Where is this mystery stir-frying video you mention? I have tried hard to find all suitable english-language videos for my blog - so if you know of a video that should be featured, please do let me know!

I am so happy about Valerie's videos  :) :-* ;) because she does such a great job of de-mysitifying the yogurt-making process and boy oh boy who WOULDN'T want to make and eat those marinated yogurt cheese balls of hers. Wow! More please, more!!!!

Cheers,
TMB

Love it, Love it, love it!!!!  :-* Could have danced a jig to your your fab music!  :D And Valerie's production was A1!! Question: Does Valerie ever flavour her yogurt with honey, sugar or fruit??  ??? Could this be done before it sets or does it have to be done after it sets??  :-)) I'm inspired to try this yogurt out now - ( but now my cow has 'dried up' I'll have to buy my milk!) :-\

Good work TMB - I usually just add the water after blitzing the peels off.

Hi Nay Nay! I'm afraid I can't speak for Valerie, but it you leave a comment on her blog I'm sure she will respond quickly! I agree, her videos are very inspiring and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. I just know it will be entertaining, educational, inspiring, and thorough! She's a keeper!

D'OH!   :o   - Well why didn't  you tell me so?  ;) ;) ;)

You know Thermomixer, I looked around and didn't see anything consistent, so I used tidbits of info from various sources and went throught quite a lot of garlic while experimenting. For some reason, I kept going in order to achieve a result with cloves that were both skinned and remained whole. (In hindsight, I know not why... probably just the perfectionist gene kicking in...) I thought the water bath was helping but now I find out otherwise. Golly Gee! I coulda saved a whole bunch of time by simply calling you up in the middle of the night and asking. ;)

Oh well, these things do keep me out of trouble...  :-))

Made Valeries yoghurt after trying a few other recipes which weren't quite right.  OMG :-* :-* :-* Perfect yoghurt from the first batch, no need to improve the culture.  And soooo simple.  Looking forward to trying the cheese balls for Christmas.

GReat Cathy!  :) Thanks for the report! :) :) I am looking forward to trying these too. They're near the top of my 'to do' list.  I hope we'll be seeing more videos from Valerie soon because I don't think we can keep a good woman down and she's sure got the talent for both Thermomixing AND video taping while cooking. (Not easy!)

Hey Valerie! What's next???
 ;)

I agree Shayla, it is so annoying trying to watch a videa that stops and starts all the time.  I thought it was just my computer but obviously it is a South Australian thing.  The slideos Helene uses are great.

Your slideo is so helpful and I also love the easy to follow format and quick loading.

Thank-You for sharing it!

Thank you sourdough! I'm glad to hear the low-tech slideos aren't putting you off. I'm sure there are many folks out there though... who just click off when they realized it isn't 'moving pictures'... Oh well, you can't please everyone... and with my old camera, this is the best I can do...

Cheers,
