Title: Pasta in the Oven....
Post by: isi on January 11, 2010, 12:45:55 am
Hello

From Little My Elder Son shows a great interest in cooking! Not always have time and patience to share with him the kitchen but when I do it is a pleasure to observe the satisfaction it gives to him!

One of the dishes that I let him do ALMOST ALONE is this Pasta that we love and really is super easy to do!

Name of Recipe:
PASTA IN THE OVEN...... (WITH HAM AND MUSHROOMS)

Number of People: 3-4

Ingredients:
160 grams of Pasta you like (Today we made Fusiles Tricolor)
150 gram ham
1 can of mushroom (I had frozen)
150 grams cheese (I usually use the Emmental )
200 grams of cream
400 grams of water
Salt, pepper, Paprika, Aromatic herbs
1-2 teaspoon tomato paste
1-2 teaspoons flour

Preparation:
Place the non cooked Pasta with the ham and mushrooms in a Pyrex
(http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr64/melgaco/DSC_0039.jpg)

In Thermomix: Place all remaining ingredients except the cheese to 100º / level 2

When you reach the 100º -  take the cup of the TMX and put the sauce over the Pasta that should be fully covered and Finlay the Cheese!

Put it in the preheated to 180 º oven for about 30 minutes!

Here in the House are usually 30 minutes but today it needed another 10 minutes because the Pasta were still a little hard!

Tips/Hints:
This recipe is supervariavel, we can put all the ingredients we need to put out of the Fridge :D :D :D! !

Suggestions from members

Isi and Judy
Use chicken instead of ham.

Judy
Use evaporated milk to cut down on the calories!

Yvette
Made this with pork.

KarenH
This is Karen's version, with her changes.
160g macaroni
150g left-over roast chicken
1 spring onion, sliced
1 roasted and peeled capsicum (only put this in to use it up)
Big handful fresh swiss brown mushrooms (about 6)
1 zucchini
1 carrot
1 green capsicum
200g skim evaporated milk (from a can) - instead of cream
500g home-made tomato passata (quite runny, so I used this instead of water and added extra just to use it up)
Chopped fresh parsley and basil
Cracked pepper
1 tablespoon TMX vegetable stock concentrate
1 tablespoon homemade pizza sauce
2 teaspoons flour
150g mozzarella cheese

Placed uncooked pasta in pyrex dish.
Spread chopped chicken, sliced spring onion and roasted capsicum over the pasta
Put mushrooms, carrot, zucchini and green capsicum in bowl of TMX.  3 seconds speed 5 to coarsely chop.
Added everything else except the cheese.
Brought it up to 100 degrees, initially on speed 3 to mix, then down to speed 2 - took about 8 minutes to get to 100.
Poured over stuff in pyrex dish.  Sprinkled with cheese.
Into preheated oven at 180 degrees for 35 mins.
Perfect!

I think it might be nice with tuna as well .......

Thanks for the fabulous recipe isi!  Well definitely be making this one again!

Meagan
Doubled the recipe and added vegies and bacon.

Cornish Cream
.Didn't have cream so used evaporated milk, added a few fresh mushrooms,a packet of air dried ham and tasty cheddar.DS said as far as he's concerned it's the best Pasta Bake. (Proscuitto in Australia)

Good one isi, cooked leftover chicken could be used in place of the ham and as you say, any leftovers from the fridge can be added too.  Thanks for rising to the challenge - I knew you'd come up with something very quickly. What a great asset you are to this forum  :-* :-*  I have the grand-children coming tomorrow - guess what they are having for lunch  ;D ;D  In fact, miss 5 year old can do most of the work ;) ;)

Thanks Isi -  great to have all the pics to help show how to do it - I am usually too messy or lazy to take any until it's over.

Got GD to put this one together today with minimal help from me.  Used chicken and a tiny piece of left-over ham - completely forgot about the cheese on top but it was quite rich and we didn't even notice it missing.  Used a can of mushrooms in butter sauce but will just use fresh sliced mushrooms next time and will try it with carnation evaporated light milk too to cut down on the calories. Let it sit for 1/2 hour when it finished cooking to enable the liquid to be further absorbed by the pasta.  Miss 5 is not eating a lot of anything at the moment but did quite well and master 17-months gobbled all his up. They had an isi lunch today - we followed it up with the light chocolate creams I made yesterday. Thanks isi, good one.

No Thermomixer, I'm just back to my Tuesday babysitting duties but this year it is only going to be every fortnight - sharing the day with the MIL. The kids have been in their new home a couple of weeks now but the a/c is still not connected (and lots of other jobs still not done, like the tiling of the pool and the downstairs area is hardly touched,) so last night I rang them and told them to bring the kids down to us so they'd get a decent night's sleep in that dreadful weather we just had.  2 sleeping children were carried in at 1/4 to 9 with not a peep from either of them and I had their bed/cot set up in the lounge which is cooler than the bedrooms. They would have had no idea how they got here but no dramas when they woke at 7.30 - they love coming to Grandma's house.  By the end of the day, Grandma & Grandpa love to see them go home too  ;D ;D

Made this last night, and it was fabulous - and sooooo easy and tasty!  I made quite a few "tweaks", mainly to use up what was left in the fridge, and also to hide extra vegetables in it for the kids.  This is the version I made:

200g skim evaporated condensed milk (from a can) - instead of cream

Did you really use condensed milk KJH or do you mean evaporated milk  ??? ???

I agree, this recipe is just so versatile and a great one for using up all those bits and pieces which would normally be thrown out.

Made mine using leftover pasta sauce and roast chicken, cauliflower, frozen peas, a bit of cream, a dash of milk and a mixture of cheeses 😋

Just bumping this as it's a great easy dinner to use up leftovers. I've been away for work for a few days and looking in the fridge this morning there is some left over BBQ, ham different open cheese packets, tomato paste and some not so great looking veggies. I'll put them altogether in this recipe and it will be a good easy Friday night dinner using up food that would otherwise get thrown out.
