Title: Some cooking mistakes and how to avoid them . . . .:)
Post by: goldfish on April 29, 2014, 11:20:59 pm
Came across this today.. some interesting tips there!

http://www.cookinglight.com/cooking-101/techniques/cooking-questions-tips-00400000064986/print-index.html

and this one . . .

Love the quote, "cooking shows are partly responsible for a rise in kitchen fires."  Said chef also needs a couple of rounds with a big wet fish and 30 lashes with a wet (maybe make that a dry one!) noodle for the comments about his mother's cooking. Mini rant  - pet peeve!. . he's still alive and kicking to tell the tale, he didn't starve and should be thankful he didn't have to scavenge through garbage just to find a bite to hold body and soul together.  What was, was . .mother probably was doing the best she could with what she had at the time. Get over it, feel blessed and thankful for what you had that millions of others didn't without this all too common imperious, pretentious nonsense.  (I feel better now . .  :-)) ;D ;D ;D)

I read the 20 mistakes blah blah blah thing.

Well said GF. Double that from me  >:(

I was so proud of DD when she told me my cooking was a gift that DSs and DH ought to appreciate more. (I think I was complaining about the lack of help doing the dishes at the time). Last time we met for lunch I took a small tin with a dozen Anzac cookies (with added apricots and chic chips) and she ate the lot in one sitting  :D

Interesting read (Cooking Light link) to see just how much we know GF - we can always learn something.  Now, I wonder if everything I read will stay in my mind  :-))

Cooking shows probably have increased kitchen fires.
Hospital emergency departments blame home reno shows for an increase in the "weekend handyman" coming through casualty.

I had a few chuckles reading this and remembering when I had committed some of those mistakes and what had happened.
