The Thermi never dies.........!
« on: March 18, 2011, 11:59:53 pm »
Just an interesting bit of trivia......

I met a woman at a demo yesterday who's mum has had a Thermomix since the 1960s! She bought it at one of the first demonstrations held in the UK - the lady I met remembers being dragged along to the demo as a child - she describes it as a small orange machine......and her mum is still using it!!!

Is the thermomix the cockroach of the appliance world? And I mean that in the nicest possible way - when future civilizations search through the rubble ....... will they find the Thermi - happily singing it's "I'm finished now" song?

Hope so!

Just thought it was a testament to the workmanship and quality - I'll be using this story when a customer asks me "when's the next one coming out?"

Good one to throw out to prospective customers who think the machine is too expensive. As Andie pointed out in one of her threads, this equates to $40 a year at today's prices - that is if they build them as good as they did back in the 60's. I know there are so many more features on today's model that there is more to go wrong but even if we get 30 years from them, it is still a very good run.

I was recently wondering which of today's appliances will still be being used in 20 years time. I think Thermi fits the bill. Definitely the cockroach of the appliance world!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Will they survive a nuclear explosion like the cockroach? (I believe they can/will)
