That looks so very colourful Jeninwa.

Ok Judy, how did you do it? Also did you make the pork buns?
Title: Re: Forum problems being addressed by MM
Post by: judydawn on November 01, 2015, 12:54:25 pm
No I didn't make the bun cookie but MM has been dealing with forum complaints about not being able to post photos from our iPads directly onto the forum.  He asked me to try it and it was so easy.  Take your photos with the iPad, post something then press on "attachments and other options'.  Click on "choose file".  Click on 'photo library' and choose 'camera roll' to find the photo you want to post.  Bob's your Uncle, there you are.  It's a small photo but click on it and it becomes quite large.

Maybe Chookie might like to try to add some photos to her last postings to see if it works for her.

It's OK when you click on it cookie but it's rather  large.  This may not work for all iPads, mine is fairly new.  If we can get a few members to try it out, we can report back to MM.  He is going to work on the size of the font too.

Wow, I do love all the photos. I don't have any dramas using Tapatalk so I will continue to use that. I will get DD to see if she can help me from going upside down in the photos.

I have noticed that when my font is minuscule, I have black on the RH side of my iPad. Some or all of the ads are replaced by blackness. I will photograph it next time.

My font is fine now, but when I took the photo the blackness was there.

Title: Re: Re: What are you cooking today?
Post by: judydawn on November 02, 2015, 12:21:47 am
Someone told me that photos post upside down if you don't have the eye of the camera of your iPad on the left hand side.  I tried that after posting some upside down ones myself when I first bought this new iPad cookie.  I was able to post photos back then but within 2 weeks and 1 update of the system,  it all went pear shaped and I couldn't them post anymore.  It all had something to do with jpg or JPEG files I think, the IT obviously has now added whichever one was needed for the forum to accept our photos.

Cookie, sometimes my font is large enough but when I press the reply button, it goes so tiny I need a magnifying glass to read it.  Hopefully MM can fix this problem as well.

Title: Re: Forum problems being addressed by MM
Post by: judydawn on November 02, 2015, 12:37:23 am
During the FF, problems with the forum was discussed, collated and sent to MM for his attention.  Last night he jumped on the problem, firstly the photo posting problem which we seem to have sorted out. These postings have all been transferred of the chatter from 'What are you cooking today' from last night and now it has it's own thread.

MM will move onto the size of the font next and hopefully the search function will be looked at too as it was on the list of complaints.

Hi all,

We are going to fix font issue next. We'll change font.

As for Search Function, seems to work well on my Windows PC. Is this an ipda issue? (I don't have one).

After that, we'll move onto to other issues,

Thank you all for raising issues and testing changes out.

On both my iPad and PC it's the same but search for the same recipe on Google and it takes you to actual recipes MM not to a huge list of recipes with any of the words used.  Try looking for chicken and corn soup on forumthermomix with our search engine and then with Mr Google and you will see what I mean.

Like Judy I have had to use Google to locate recipes on the Forum.

Colours are wishy washy. Keep it simple,  basic and user friendly. There is so much competition and ease of navigation is paramount.

Well, I hope Gert when she get's back (I wish a fast recovery) will see that the font is larger and the color is black. :)

Is better this way?

As for the images, I was a very useful tip that made us solved the problem. I did not realize that iPad uses the jpeg extension format and not the jpg as everyone else. So that extension was not on the list of approved extension that we use to prevent spam and other types of attacks.

Keep the flow of suggestions. :)

Hello

Uhm.. They should be the same in all topics (the change is for all), I do not have an Ipad to check at this moment, but I will try to see it on one.

Maybe some setting on the IPad?

Admin, I've taken an iPad shot of a page in that thread.  You will notice the black area to the right, I think this is the only thread which has that.  For some reason black areas on a page means smaller print.

Hello to all

It seems that safari (the default browser on iPad) does not behave as the rest, And that is the reason for the black arear on the right.

Maybe using another browser would mitigate this situation.

Looking for another solution.

Post by: Katiej on November 03, 2015, 10:12:59 pm
I think the black line down the side of the page only occurs if there is a big photo on the page.

For example, in "what are you cooking today" on page 1803 there are 2 really big photos and the black line is on the side of the page.  On pages 1802 and 1804 there are no big photos, so no black line.

Another example is the last page of the thread "backyard vegie gardeners", there is a big photo here and also a black line.  In the new thread I posted "overnight sour dough", I posted some photos using Tapatalk and these photos look big.  There is a black line on the side here as well.

I think the big photos (maybe all posted using Tapatalk), push the page over to the left and this makes the font smaller and the black line appears on the right hand side.

It looks the same to me on my iPad using Safari and my pc using both Internet Explorer or Chrome.
Title: Re: Forum problems being addressed by MM
Post by: judydawn on November 03, 2015, 10:35:23 pm
Thanks Katie.  Admin, perhaps you need to increase our allowed photo size then. It seems the size of photos plays a big part in these problems in certain threads.

Photos uploaded from the iPad are much smaller but I find when you click on them to make them larger, it takes quite a few seconds for that to happen.
Title: Re: Forum problems being addressed by MM
Post by: cookie1 on November 04, 2015, 01:26:00 am
I like photos that are big enough to see without clicking on them. I guess I like to be quick. It looks as though I may have to just make the font larger on my ipad.  Or even just revert back to the old forum.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I've just popped on here to check things out and hey presto, new font. I like it. So far I can read it. Thank you.

I e just checked over the other parts of the forum. The print is still small in other sections ( possibly the photos as suggested, but I love photos) but it is much clearer to read. I don't need to enlarge the page.
Great. Thanks Mr Admin.

I just downloaded the Chrome app to compare, I think Safari is better as the text is larger.
Also, When in Chrome I couldn't see the test photo that CreamPuff posted today, but could see a good sized preview in Safari. I don't really find it a problem myself as I just zoom in when on my mobile devices.

Just an idea, for those with text size issues, if the 'conversation text' was the same size as the member name in the left column, it would be a really easy to read size. The conversation text should really be the easiest to see as I assume most people read the time and date information as secondary information (or not at all).

Title: Re: Forum problems being addressed by MM
Post by: gertbysea on November 04, 2015, 10:05:23 pm
I feel the problem is the font itself . It is just too fine. There are thousands of fonts available so why not choose one simple one such as aerial black or similar.

I really hate the wishy washy colours in the theme chosen.  I find it boring and not dynamic enough for easy reading so that is why I don't post or come here nearly as often as I  used to. I miss it but I am on my I  pad due to convenience and I Can't be bothered to stretch the text so  can easily read it.

It is faster to go to FB to "talk" than it is to negotiate here. I absolutely loath the colour bars and particularly the one in POST REPLY /Topics Summary and others as it looks like baby poo. The ads are brighter!

I absolutely loath the colour bars and particularly the one in POST REPLY /Topics Summary and others as it looks like baby poo.

Admin has now changed the colour to a dark green, much better isn't it?  So far we have the font changed, ad size reduced and now the colour of the topic bars.  Next hopefully will be to find a solution to the search function. Thanks for listening to our members MM and Admin.

Update, have just been on the laptop and the colour hasn't changed there, it's still the colour Gert mentioned  ;D

Mine seems to change colour with the weather. At the moment it was a cream/beige colour and the last posts I was looking at it was black. At least the banner on the RH side is smaller.
