Yes, they are certainly out, I saw some easter eggs in packets this morning. The temptation to buy was very high, but we still have quite a lot of chocolate from Christmas so we'd better eat that first. :'( :'(

I need to make some more, so will try this one this time.  I use the thermomix stock concentrate exclusively now, it really livens things up, especially risottos.  Will report back.

I saw hot cross buns in Coles this morning. I read in the paper that Coles and the Red Cross have some deal going where some of the money from all the buns sold goes to the Red Cross. Perhaps they are hoping to sell lots by starting early.

Warren, I believe some of our tuna processors were losing money several years ago and they came up with the idea of adding things to a tin of tuna to make it more popular.  It's mainly only the small tins that you would use for lunch.  There's chilli, vinagrette, lemon and heaps of others. I think it saved a couple of the companies from going bankrupt.

I often open a can of 'flavoured' tuna to have with a salad for my lunch. eg sundried tomato and tuna, smoked tuna. I don't think I would have plain tuna very often.
I sometimes use tinned tuna in a mornay type of thing for a main meal. I find it hard to buy fish near us that hasn't been imported. Fortunately we spend a month or so each year at Monkey Mia (Shark Bay) fishing and occasionally we catch some to put in the freezer for the next month or so at home.  I think having that lovely fresh fish to eat up there spoils most bought fish for us.
Sorry-slightly off the tuna topic.

Here in good old Western Australia we don't have Aldi. (although I visit them when we drove over to the other side of Aust). We have Woolworths, Coles and IGA which is the Independent Grocers' Association (I think). I find the IGA a little more expensive than the other two but they are open 7 days a week.  Here we only have retail trading for 6 days of the week.
Coles and Woolworths are putting lots of their own brands on the shelves at the moment and some people are finding it hard to buy things they like.  A real nuisance.
I did hear that Costco will be coming to Aust.  Melbourne first but I did hear that they even plan to come to West Aussie. :) :)

Tenina, you're a trooper to cook in this heat.  It really is enough to put you off cooking, but then I get hungry! :'( These aren't tears, they are perspiration.

Chit Chat / Re: so what was your favourite...
« on: January 06, 2009, 06:09:37 am »
This is a hard thing to reply to. I have packed away the rice cooker and even the bread machine and also my food processor.  I still have my handy Sunbeam hand held mixer ready and available so I'd say this would have to be my favourite as I still use it quite a lot.
Oh dear, I've posted on every Chit Chat topic, it looks greedy.  Perhaps someone else will do the same.
It's a great idea so thanks to all those who arranged it.
Keep ^^

I must agree with Thermomixer about the need to invite friends along so it is a type of 'party' sale.  This is what put me off initially as I am not into this sort of stuff at all.  The person who I had been advised to consult re the thermomix wanted at least 3 households represented and I felt a bit awful inviting friends around for a sales pitch.
Baf 65, it is good to know that you are happy to sell without the "party". I think when more people realise this and see the machines operating they will be happy to purchase one.
I hink a lot depends on your consultant too.  Baf65, so you have designated areas for sales or can you sell anywhere?
Thanks for reading my 2cents worth.
Thermomixer and Karen you are doing a great job.

Thanks Karen, I will be brave next time. I seem to remember someone (it may have been you) say that if you turn the butterfly up further than 4 it will "butterfly". Silly the way we remember things!!
Nice to see you supporting thermomix on other sites.

Today we've had the usual milk shakes, DH made his special custard rice pudding using custard powder and I've just made the pastry for a quiche.  I also made tha base of a slice called Dream slice.  I was a bit scared to do the top as it had eggs beaten with sugar until they were thick-am I able to do this and incorporate lots of air on the thermomix?  Will have to get brave and try it some time.

Unconundrum, This looks lovely. I've copied it down and will make it. I'll probably wait until the weather cools down a bit.  Will let you know how it goes. I haven't had tapioca since I was a kid, we used to call it "frog's eyes".
