No I haven't. I may have thought about it but I don't  like the idea of paying every year or so. I have just pre ordered Alyce Alexandra's new book and also Tenina's. I don't seem able to resist these!!!!!
Me too Cookie.  Can't wait to hear how your Icecream moulds go.  I haven't bought the cook key for the same reason, I don't want to keep paying each year.  I think I'll just stick with the chips.  Looking forward to receiving Tenina's new book too!

Oh no, I luv Tenina's recipes.  Hope she's ok.  I even thought about going to Bali with her next year.

I have a lot of chips and do use Cookidoo a bit, but I use a lot of other cookbooks too, so I'm still on the fence about the cook key.  I think you're better off with a cookbook or chip that you can use anytime without having to pay a subscription, but then with the key you get access to 27000 recipes, so surely there must be some interesting stuff in there.

Here we go, I found out everything you need to know about the Cook-key.  It's got it's own website:  https://cook-key.com.au/

Due for release in October, it will be $189 with a subscription via Cookidoo that gives you access to all available TM approved recipes.

You make playlists of your favourite recipes and sync them onto the Cook-key.  Once your TM5 and your Cook-key are synced with the playlist you can be without Wi-Fi and the recipes you've synced to the Cook-key will continue to work, but you must have Wi-Fi to sync the playlist in the first place.  You can even make notes on the recipes to tailor it to your preferences.

Looks good.

Hi All,
I was at a TM demo recently and asked the consultant about the Cook Key.  Apparently it will come with an online subscription for the first 6 months included in your purchase price (I think she said about $149.95?).  Anyway, after that you will have to pay a subscription to maintain the access.  The subscription will give you access to 27,000 recipes, which I assume is all the TM approved recipes worldwide (whether currently on chips or cookbooks).  I'm not sure however if this covers any other TM sources, like the RecipeCommunity.  I also don't know whether it converts recipes from other countries into your language of choice.  eg, if there's a recipe from Germany that I want to make, will it be in English on my Cookkey?
My understanding is also that they will continue with chips and cookbooks for the non-Cookkey adopters.
So many questions, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see next week.

Thanks to all the lovely ladies that I met on Saturday at the AA cooking school.  Chookie, your DIL and granddaughter have done a fabulous job on the pork buns!  Sorry that I had to run off to Swan Hill.  I hope you all had a lovely time in Melbourne, it certainly looks like you all had a great time.

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Re: "Raw flour" taste
« on: August 25, 2015, 01:52:45 am »
Hi All, not a raw flour taste, but I made the Béchamel sauce from the chip last night and, whilst not quite a fail, not really a success either.  It just wasn't the right texture at all, in fact quite soupy.  Has anyone else had this issue?  I'm going to give the recipe above a go the next time.  ???

Tips and Tricks / Re: Cleaning TMX bowl

Thanks Chookie, I'll give the Amaze a go on the weekend and see how it goes.  I cooked pasta bake from RC earlier this week and it's left a stain right around the base of the jug, so it needs a bit of TLC this weekend.

Hi All,
So I looked up stainless steel cleaner and discovered there were lots to choose from.  So is the one Ral uses a paste or a spray?  I think the paste variety cleaner/polish would be the same as White Lily or Amaze?  I use Amaze on the sink and it truly is amazing and leaves some sort of polish afterwards, as you don't have to clean it as regularly because the water just beads off and nothing sticks to it much :)  Must look at the lid and see what's in it.

Thanks Chookie, that's excellent.  I'll give it a whirl.

I had a demo recently and was told that there will be 4 chips available by the end of the year.  I wasn't told what they would be.  Apparently Germany already has lots of chips.

Hi Chookie, I'm a bit thick today - what are you doing with the slow cooker, just letting it rise in there until double or actually cooking it?  I have a small slow cooker that I don't use anymore, so could easily prove my dough in there.  Jenny

Bread / Re: Beer Bread

To convert it to a TM5 recipe and use up the remaining beer, how much extra flour do you think should be added?  Plus a bit more sugar?

Thanks for that KatieJ.  I left out the colouring and couldn't get the fenugreek so my next batch should taste just like the recipe in the new book then :)
