Title: back to basics class in perth
Post by: baf65 on October 16, 2008, 02:20:39 am
Just thought Id share that I went to the Back to Basics class last night and was pleasantly surprised that they did some new dishes along with some out of the Everyday book that were different to the home demos
The menu was

Boost style juice using pink grapefruit pineapple and ginger
Quick Blueberry Ice Cream - very nice too!!
Cheese and spinach bread scroll
butter
Thai chicken patties (made in varoma)
waldorf salad
chick pea curry (from Cyndi OMearas TM cookbook - new one)
rice
lemon and lime custard (served later with I think a Torta Corprese)

There are apparantly a few new cookbooks coming out in the not too distant future (probably partly thanks to Tenina!) and the Xmas cooking class in Perth is on 7 Dec, 2 sessions 11-1 and 6.30-8.30, they will be taking about 90 people per class but stil get in early - one of the dishes is going to be mini christmas puds made in ramekins in the varoma!

Thanks baf65

The mini puds sound interesting.  The Boost juice alson sounds good.

Did the lemon and lime custard have zest done in the TMX, and if so, was it really fine, or were there little gritty bits in the custard?

there was no gritty bits in the custard, i wasnt completely paying attention but i think they put the strips of lemon/lime zest - which was like peel not like zest if you know what i mean, they put that in with the sugar and grated it all together and from what i could see it sort of blended in with the sugar quite finely
there was def no grit, the custard was delicious!

Thanks for that.

It may be that the ones that I have tasted weren't whizzed around enough - it may be that the contents need to be pushed down and blitzed a few times.  The zest stuck on the side at one demo and did not really get small at all.

Baf65, thanks, I just read your post and now see the dates for the Christmas class in Perth.  I will ring tomorrow and see if I can get in. I'm getting very excited about the arrival of this TM.
