Suggestions and Complaints / Re: cleaning old posts

Yes, I wish the tweaks were under the recipe.  I keep finding recipes to try, then accidentally find their improvements or changes - usually after I've tried them and they weren't quite right.

That is annoying !! - wouldn't it be great if TMX Oz had a site with updates to refer to for their recipe books and then updated the recipes and sent all users an update?

In an ultimate world, yes.  In the meantime, can we get some suggestions going?  Mine is tweaks with their original recipe so they're right where we need them, rather than in a different section.

I've just sent a test through regarding the "two recipe requests" thread.  Now this is fixed, it might not be necessary.

So if we just press the "report" button, will that highlight the thread for moderators to "clean"?

Never be afraid to make comments Cathy - we don't bite ;D ;D ;D  Some of us may not agree with everything everyone says but that's life - we are all allowed to have an opinion and express it in the proper manner which you certainly did.

Thanks Judy.  Appreciate it.

Thank you so much for your replies.  I was very nervous posting this suggestion as I was afraid it would come across wrong!

Suggestions and Complaints / cleaning old posts

I have just been looking through the 'recipe tweaks' thread to find corrections etc for my EDC cookbook.  And I have a suggestion that I hope can be looked at positively and not as a complaint.

Some of the threads are getting a little dated and Huge!  I was wondering if they can be "cleaned" after they get a little stale.  Just thinking that as this forum gets older and bigger and better, it is going to get harder to find the "recipe tweaks" amongst the other "stale" comments which are no longer relevant.

Just to be clear, I am loving this forum and finding it very inspiring.  But also time consuming as I trawl through threads trying to find what I'm looking for.

Tips and Tricks / Re: help needed!!!! meatloaf recipe

Hmm, will try Arrabiatta next time.  Without the chilli for me, and probably with basil pesto in it.  Will try to remember to post the results.
The leftover meatloaf is great sliced in sandwiches or maybe with a salad.  That's assuming you have any leftover!

Has anyone tried cooking their spaghetti in the bolognaise?  Like the Pasta with Tuna recipe in EDC?
I guess you'd need to make the bolognaise a little bit wetter so there was enough moisture to cook the spaghetti.

Hi Meatloafers

Yes, the recipe looks confusing.  But it was one of the first things I tried as I'd heard it was good and wanted to use the Varoma.  I didn't bother "stuffing" or "wrapping" my meatloaf.  So I just made the mince mixture and shaped it into a meatloaf and popped it in the dish.  Easy peasy!  And it was delicious.

Red Sauce - yes the sauce does have sweet potato, carrot and potato in it.  I think the idea is to get those vegies into us!  Personally, I found it very sweet which I don't like.  But others love it!

Has anyone got another sauce idea?

Recipe Requests / Meatloaf Sauces
« on: September 16, 2009, 01:55:41 pm »
I made the meatloaf with red sauce.  The meatloaf was delicious, even not stuffed and not wrapped (too fiddly for me).

But the red sauce, not for me!  It was very sweet, almost marmalady (if that's a word).  What I'd love is a good tomato based sauce.  I could try the red sauce without the sweet potato as I think that was the problem.

Any ideas to share?

I don't chop my strawberries when I freeze them (unless you have gigantic ones up there in Cairns  :o :o)

Hmm, when I didn't chop my strawberries, I almost broke my machine.  I didn't think they were very big, but then realised some were triple the size of ice cubes.  So I learnt the hardway and now they're probably unnecessarily small.

Hey Cookie

Made this last night and it was delicious!  But I think there might be an instruction line missing?  I almost ended up with a whole garlic clove in mine.  Lucky I realised and was able to fish it out and crush the old fashioned way.

Thanks for the recipe!

Also, can some of these be moved to the normal recipe section so they're easier to find?

I made Bacon, leek and tomato risotto. I only made enough for the 3 of us, although it may feed 4 small eaters. (we're hungry folks).

Bacon, Leek and Tomato Risotto

3 cups water
3 good teaspoons vegie stock
3 rashers of bacon
1 leek
1 clove garlic
200g arborio rice
1/4 cup white wine (I used verjuice)
125g small cherry tomatoes, halved
45g olive
1/4 cup parmesan

Grate the parmesan for 3 seconds on speed 9.
Chop white part of leek and place in the bowl with the garlic and sliced bacon and oil. 2 minutes, 100o speed 1.
Add rice and wine. Cook 2 minutes at 100o reverse speed soft.
Add stock and water, cook for 7 minutes 100oReverse, speed soft.
Add the halved tomatoes and cook a further 10 minutes as above. Place in thermoserver, stir through the parmesan and let sit for 5 minutes.
