Title: Proper Custard
Post by: past94x on May 16, 2016, 07:25:14 pm
I love proper custard. Does anyone have a really good recipe for custard using eggs etc, that really works??
I find some recipes produce a tasty custard but it looks a teeny bit curdled. Or is it just me?

I use the custard recipe in the EDC.  It is very reliable and adaptable and above all tasy! It is smooth and very easy to make.

I have to agree with you past94x, they do look curdled!

Being English, perhaps this one might suit you.  http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=15550.0

I actually love this eggless custard

I'm with Bootobethin with the EDC custard.  It never let me down - I haven't made it since DH went dairy free, maybe I should try it again and see how it goes with soy milk.

Cuilidh I make a dairy free version of the EDC custard all the time as a family member is dairy free. I use coconut milk instead of milk it is delicious. It is also good with soy milk and brown sugar instead of white sugar. It makes caramel custard and is a tweak on Quirky Jo's caramel custard recipe. Enjoy!
