Freezer biscuits that you can cut and bake as needed?
« on: May 15, 2014, 03:45:34 pm »
I'm wondering if anyone has a TMX recipe for biscuits that you can freeze. By that I mean, you make the dough . . . wrap in a log/sausage and freeze and then just cut biscuits and bake as needed.

Thank you. The suggestions listed either state biscuits that can last a while (in or out of fridge) or that most biscuits freeze well but I am looking more for a log that is frozen uncooked and you can slice and bake into biscuits as needed. There are a few recipes I have found that aren't Thermomix ones but I was hoping someone already had some. I might just try and convert myself....it shouldn't be too hard.

Tasty i'mmsure you could convert any recipe I just throw most ingredients in together and it always seems to turn out, this would be a great idea for those who have the Air Fryers.

Tasty, I have successfully made this recipe like that- such a lifesaver to have in the freezer. I'm not that keen on the sugar content, but they are incredibly versatile. the recipe uses a whole can of condensed milk and 5 cups of flour, I think this is too much for the TMX in one go, so I use my KA.

Tasty,  I'm not home at the moment but make a shortbread biscuit that you roll into  several logs and freeze them.  When you want fresh biscuits you take out a roll and slice of several and bake them.  They are very nice.  When I get home will send you the recipe.

I have used the recipe jamberie has posted dividing it into three logs with different additions and freezing. It works well.

I've no heard of the roll, freeze and slice method. Sounds interesting 😃

Do the logs get squished when you cut through, hence you don't get perfect circles? Are they too hard to slice?

Biscuits from the freezer can be quite useful BZB. I always have trouble rolling perfect circles anyway so mine aren't perfect circles to start with. Those I have made haven't been hard to cut. I usually use a serrated knife.

Emerald Sue - Walnut refrigerator biscuits.  Sorry I haven't worked out how to do that link thing.  I use this recipe often and have frozen the roll very successfully.

You haven't failed at anything until you stop trying.

Both my choc orange biscuits and walnut refrigerator biscuits can be frozen uncooked in rolls. A tip for keeping the rolls round is to pop the wrapped biscuit roll into a tall glass or cup in the fridge or freezer until it is hard. Once it has hardened, you can take it out of the glass and store it on its side as usual.
