Title: Nice surprise from Head Office
Post by: judydawn on November 17, 2012, 01:47:41 am
This morning Monika, S.A. State Manager of Thermomix popped in with 5 copies of the latest reprint of the Festive Flavour cookbook for me to share with our members.  I know a lot of us have this booklet already and there are no new recipes in it so this offer is only for newbies who do not have it.  The first 5 names to appear after this message will be lucky enough to receive it in the post next week hopefully. It's a great little book for Christmas gift giving and entertaining as you will see by the reviews  (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=8430.0).  Don't procrastinate or you will miss out  :D

I feel like Santa and really appreciate this gesture from Head Office.

I was also given 5 calendars but they won't last long! One might go to a special little lady who turns 18 tomorrow - don't tell her  ;)

OK, on your marks, get set, Go - can't wait to see where I will be sending the recipe booklets.

That would be nice Kath, I could have done with a lot more  ;D

I have been asked for a list of recipes from the calendar so here we go.

Avocado & goats' feta flowerpots
Pavlova stack with raspberry cream
Steamed chicken wrapped in lotus leaves
Stewed rhubarb with ginger wine syllabub
Trio of citrus desserts
Ricotta dumplings with Napoli sauce
Pistachio cake
Sri Lankan red beef curry
Nila's curry blend
Parmesan gelato
Popcorn ice-cream dessert
Confit trout blini
Trifle
Basic sponge cake

It also tells us that ThermoFest '13 for consultants will be held in Hong Kong in March.

They weren't up for grabs Karen as I had them specifically earmarked for certain people.  Would you believe you were one of them for having us girls up there recently for such a lovely day  ;D ;D   Will post it next week.

Judy if it's easier you can give me Karen's calender and I can pass it onto her one week day.  It will give us an excuse to met up again for lunch  ;D

Ohhhh - how exciting!  Thank you so much Judy and HO!!   Unlike most people in this high tech age , I still use and love a wall calendar, and have one for work and one for home.  I think the TMX one is destined to stay home though!

As Katie said, dont worry about posting it, give it to her instead.  I got my order of bulk rapadura sugar today, so after I divide it up into littler bags, I will be paying Katie a visit again soon  ;D  And lunch sounds good Katie  :D

I'll go around to the PO next week and get some envelopes to fit the goodies into and postage will be my Christmas present to all the lucky people who receive their gift.  So sorry I didn't have more that I could send out to all those who would have liked them.  This is the first time this has happened since I have been a moderator but it is a nice bit of PR work between HO and the forum and just in time to pass on some Christmas spirit.

And thank you to HO,it was a generous gesture and much appreciated.

Call me cynical  but  to deliver these things to Judy to forward to others at Judy's expense is crap.  It is not only not generous, but appalling in my opinion.

Sorry Judy but  I do hope those who receive it at the very least  return the favour.  This  is not a generous gesture on HO  part in my opinion.

A generous gesture by HO would be to,acknowledge our forum and  give a calendar at no expense to Judy.

Monika shame .  Why not  come on the on the forum  and explain yourself personally .

Gretchen

Oh gert... The gesture was nice and judy could have giventhem to local forummembers but decided to,send them on... I think you need to acknowledge a nice gesture where it is and not always see the bad...

Gert p,ease dont hit me 😄😄😄
Title: Re: Nice surprise from Head Office
Post by: snappy on November 17, 2012, 09:11:28 pm
I know i am going to get lashed for this but Gert, I've got to say I agree with Frozzie. Maybe it would have been nice for monika to include a couple of envelopes for postage but that doesn't mean that it still was not generous of them as is.
Title: Re: Nice surprise from Head Office
Post by: chrissa on November 17, 2012, 09:27:28 pm
I'm one of the lucky recipients and I'm happy to reimburse Judy dawn for the postage expenses.  JD you shouldn't have to wear that cost.  You do enough around here :)
Title: Re: Nice surprise from Head Office
Post by: gertbysea on November 17, 2012, 09:38:19 pm
Nah I won't hit ya Frozzie. ;D

I just do not understand why Monika and others who actually work for HO  do not make themselves known on the forum  and share their gifts and knowledge with the rest of us customers. They derive endless benefits  from us but seem unable to acknowledge  and say a thank you occasionally  to the members here who help encourage and actually sell the Thermothingy for them.

Why channel information  by a third  party no matter how willing  they may be .When Tenina the ThermoMixtress  or Helene  the Thermoblogger want to gift something to us they don't ask us to foot the bill to send it.

If you wanted to give me something would you drop it a neighbours door and ask her to post it?

Ok it may be only a few bucks  but by multiply it and  a trip or more to the post office could be more than some could easily afford.

The moderators on this forum do so much for us and  and as a customer of Thermomix  I would expect HO to do better.  It is not that I see the bad  it is just that I don't see the gesture as particularly  generous or heartfelt.

Personally, a posting  from Grace Mazur saying hi and thanking all 8000 of us here for for sharing our recipes tips and tricks would mean more to me  than a few old recipes on a calendar.

Gert

Gretchen, I would think the idea Monika had was for me to distribute these items amongst those in SA that I see which I could have done but it was my idea to share them with the rest of the forum members and give pleasure to those expecting it the least.  I never knock a gift horse in the mouth, if it makes people happy why not?  If it builds a bridge between us and H.O. - again, why not?  It would be nice to work together if at all possible and to me this is a great start.
Title: Re: Nice surprise from Head Office

At least it's a step in the right direction.. I'm sure we will get there eventually..

I just think if we knock the nice things they do even if its not perfect they may not try to do better???

Ps thanks for not hitting me :D

I personally think what HO did was a nice gesture & its a startt. Monika would assume that .judy would hand them out to local people at a get together. Judy being the kind lady that she is offered them openly on the forum. As I said I am more than happy to pay p&p to Judy.

Thank you Judy :)

I too agree it is a nice gesture but a better  one would be to acknowledge  the forum  and thank Judy publically for all she does.

Posting a message  here is  pretty easy.

I wonder if cookie in Perth  will get the same gesture.

I can see both points of view . . . Gert, I agree - butI think this just comes from HO's way of doing things . . selling an expensive machine, making a lot of money - but expecting consultants to bankroll demos, etc.  On the other hand, most things in life begin with baby steps . . and this was one big babystep - considering that I saw on the forum a while back that the forum was "verbotten" for consultants to mention . . .

I think HO just need to get their heads around the fact that joining forces with this forum, and also with very special TMX cookbook authors, etc. could only result in one huge "selling machine" - now that would be one enormous win win situation for everyone.   You can take a horse to water . . getting the animal to drink is another matter . . . ;D

I've been reading this with interest and have to say though I do agree a bit with all sides here, :-* there is one point that doesn't sit too well with me... ???

... It's been mentioned that head office simply meant for JD to give the goodies away to local people in her area. ??? I can't get on board with that. If that was the case then why involve JD? HO has plenty of consultants who could benefit from having extra goodies to give away in the area. I'm sure the consultants can use these promos. As we know JD is not a consultant, so this appears to be someone's idea of connecting with and getting positive cred on the forum but maybe not a thoroughly considered plan.

This forum is after all, the biggest english-speaking Thermomix community in the world and as far as I can see, the 'official' forum doesn't even compare, so HO is certainly in a tough spot as regards navigating these waters. Without a lot of forethought, planning, ingenuity and high-priced in-house web strategists I don't think they can compete with what this forum offers.

So really... who in their right mind would give JD a bunch of goodies and expect her to share them with local TM friends? Everyone knows JD's friends are 8000 strong and located around the world! I think this was 100% meant to be mentioned on the forum. (And look at all the attention they are now getting from a few books and calendars.)

It's good to see HO being 'generous' late to the party, grasping at straws aware, but I agree with those who suggest this is a bit of a 'back door' way of going about it.

Plus, I want to thank JD for taking all the heat. HO has put her in an awkward position... I certainly hope you are being well compensated for all the politics that come with this job Judy  ;) :-*

I have no complaints Helene.  I like a nice peaceful, uncluttered life without conflict and politics is not one thing I am into at all. I take things on face value, don't look for ulterior motives, do what I want to do and no more - I am me and will not change for anyone.  I was happy to openly share this bonus supply of products without realising the furore it would cause and would do so again if I had the opportunity as these gestures do make people feel good, especially if you are lucky enough to receive one of them.
I have huge problems in my everyday life and don't look for anymore problems outside it - this little exercise made me feel good and I will not feel guilty about that.  Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I am happy some people agree with mine.  Love you all, please be kind to each other  :-* :-* :-*

Have any of us thought to think about Judy & how she feels.

They were a gift to her to do with as she pleases, she could have passed them to family members, she is a very thoughful caring person & I was upset about some of the things that have been written, so please stop & think of how Judy would feel....

I agree Hally.

Judy told me Friday she is loving the lead up to Xmas this year with all the Secret Santa and the spirit of sharing, the happiness and support shown on the forum. Judy loves nothing more than giving to others and sharing these little booklets has made her happy. Anything that makes Judy happy is a good thing.

I totally agree with you Hally. Judy is her own person and she chose to send these gifts from HO interstate . We all have the right to our thoughts and decisions but surely it's better to take the positives out of a situation rather than the negatives.
Well done Judy you are a very selfless lady as can be seen by your domestic situation and the amount of work and effort that you put into this forum.  You have such a kind heart and are a very special person.  I am sure everyone on this forum would agree  with me on that.  :D

I have laughed so much about you trying to work out who sent it.  Your link to the scrubbies website was amazing.  That's the exact site where I found the pattern.  I didn't make it, I had my mum make it for me.

You should have been a detective Judy :D

I do believe in karma.  I posted your parcel on Friday and the on the weekend I was lucky enough to get the festive booklet.

You deserve the pressie Judy, it's only small but it was sent from the  heart

It's nice to solve mysteries Chrissa. I must confess I had some help from a friend who is very good at working things out so along with her detective work and then me checking back on some of your postings - it all came together.  Remember your scrapbooking pictures, well the printing on your recipes was the same as in the lovely hand made card.
I obviously fluked the scrubbies link but I did spend an awful lot of time trying to find it - it was worth it though as I think some of the girls will now be knitting some of those themselves.  Thank you to your dear Mum for doing that.
I can imagine the laughs you had along the way, just sitting back watching it all unfold.  Were you ever going to own up?
I thank you for your lovely gift, it definitely is not 'only small' as you put it - it is wonderful and any one of our members would have been pleased to receive it.
It's a lovely story, thank you once more - I am humbled by this experience which has given me so much pleasure over the past couple of days. :-* :-*

I wasn't going to post It near me but I was so busy on Friday, I just went local and never gave it another thought.

I would have fessed up eventually but I thought I might get caught out ....   I can't tell you why yet though.....    The intrigue must continue - just for a little longer :D

I received mine on Friday, what a wonderful way to end the week.

I'll be trying the sorbet tomorrow!

Thanks HO, but most of all, thankyou Judy for your time, and generosity that you put in xo

Wow I haven't looked at this thread in a while.

It's great to see so many deserving people getting some little extras and well done Judy for your generosity.
