Bread / Re: isi's normal bread, white version, photos

I'm pretty sure they were Cookie1's photos Chookie, not yours.  I'm very quick to delete things and it sometimes would be helpful if I wasn't so quick  ;)

Thanks Cookie, a much needed addition.  I will delete the other two floating around. Easier said than done.  I see we can detete our messages but not our recipes.  Perhaps you could do it for me please Cookie - no point having in in 3 places now that we have the correct place for it.  Are you going to transfer everything which now belongs in here as well?  Much appreciated.

Cookie1 I had some photos of your cooking come through in my inbox yesterday with an attachment (not a pm) but when I clicked on the link for the forum, they were nowhere to be seen. I had a look then deleted it so can't give you any further details.  They were only small photographs with the first one being a roll with the top cut off so that must have been Isi's recipe.

Hi Lexi, welcome to a fellow South Australian.  Nice to see our numbers growing albeit slowly.   Lovely cool change for all of us with the rain being an added bonus.  Good cooking  ;)

Enjoy your quiet turkey roast all on your own tonight Amanda.  If I lived closer I'd pop in and share it with you  ;) ;)  Meal plans definitely wouldn't work in your house with teenage kids coming and going.

Yay, success at last Chookie. Was it easier than you thought it would be?

Desserts / Re: LIGHT COFFEE CREAM "QUICK DESSERT"
« on: January 11, 2010, 10:51:29 am »
It's up to you isi, 70g was all I had in the house, probably would have used a bit more if I had it. 70g makes it the same texture as your original so if you are happy with that texture, go for it.  It tastes really nice but then so did the coffee one - just nice to be able to vary it sometimes.  I can see my grand-children preferring the chocolate one though so they will be the testers tomorrow.

I made the chocolate version this morning and had one for dessert tonight.  I only had a mixture of milk & white chocolate in the house so used both (only 70g) and used 15g cornflour.  It was really nice, tasted different of course but looked just like the original one and wobbled just the same. Obviously you have to use a lot more chocolate to stop the wobble but I am beginning to like it so am not going to play around with it much more.

Can't see why not Chookie.  The recipe said to use vegetable oil or melted butter but I used grapeseed just because I had it there not being used for anything.   Good luck with your lesson tonight - I know once you get the hang of it we will be seeing lots of lovely pictures of all your favourite recipes.

On yet another scorcher here today, I bought a BBQ chicken, heated up some leftover potato casserole from yesterday and only made things to suit the weather.  Made Chookies coffee syrup for iced-coffee, an alternative to the coffee cream dessert posted by isi (will review that once it is set) and a simple coleslaw with just cabbage, carrot and sweet fresh pineapple and a lovely dressing I found on the internet called 'magic mayonnaise' (will post it)

I'm back - couldn't find where to post mayonnaise recipes so gave up and will post it here.  Perhaps a moderator will point me in the right direction.

Magic Mayonnaise from OZtion Forum

1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup grapeseed oil
2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 egg yolk unbeaten
1 tspn dry mustard
1/2 tsn salt
few  grains cayenne - 1 light shake

Place all ingredients into the TM bowl in the order listed. Blend on speed 3 for 1 minute.

There was a comment on the forum that this mayonnaise used on coleslaw tastes like KFC's which is why I made it as I love KFC coleslaw and haven't had it for years. Don't know if it is but it is very nice.  Just use the amount which suits your taste.

Drinks / Re: Coffee Syrup for Iced Coffee
« on: January 11, 2010, 06:27:55 am »
I have just made a batch of this Chookie. I think I made the mistake of straining the coffee back into the TM bowl through a sieve instead of something finer like a chux-lined sieve as our first drink was very gritty (it had dregs like you find in the tray of a coffee machine).  So I added another 1/2 cup boiling water to the existing mixture so that it wasn't as thick and strained this lot through the chux. It was a perfect glass of iced coffee with the sweetness level being just right for us.  After a couple of large glasses each  ??? ??? I filled a 300ml bottle with the syrup and as it lasts a month, don't think I need to freeze any of this lot - I'm sure it will all be gone within the month. Best iced-coffee I've had in a long while and I am keeping this in mind for whenever I do a TMX hamper in the future. Thanks so much for the posting Chookie  :-* :-*

Good one isi, cooked leftover chicken could be used in place of the ham and as you say, any leftovers from the fridge can be added too.  Thanks for rising to the challenge - I knew you'd come up with something very quickly. What a great asset you are to this forum  :-* :-*  I have the grand-children coming tomorrow - guess what they are having for lunch  ;D ;D  In fact, miss 5 year old can do most of the work ;) ;)

MM this seems a good idea. Jams, Chutneys, Sauces and other condiments or something similar. What do you think?
You know people in high places Cookie1 so if anyone can convince them of this idea, it is you  :-* :-*
