For those of you who buy meat in bulk - do you buy it through a local butcher? Halex - where do you buy your bulk meat from in Perth?  Those prices sound good.  Is the chicken and pork free range?

I made this a couple of weeks ago and it was delicious. I didn't have any cream but it tasted fine without it.

My favourite recipe is the pasta with tuna from EDC. I am number 11.

I made these yesterday and they were so easy and delicious! Can someone explain what '5 on the oven' means though? I just cooked them for 25 minutes and that was fine.

I've made this loaf quite a few times and it is delicious, but the last couple of times it has seemed to be quite 'airy' around the middle and it doesn't seem to toast as well as it used to. Do you think it could be that I'm leaving it too long in the second rise?

Did anyone end up ordering the pasta maker from POK? I've wanted one for a while so have ordered one. Even with the $25 postage to perth it was still a bargain at $63! I felt very chuffed when I saw one in kitchen warehouse today for $180 😃

Mine were delicious too!  I got lots of compliments on them. I just reheated them in the microwave. I served them with the brandy custard from QFITT which was very nice, but seemed to have a much eggier taste than the brandy cream from festive flavours.

Bread / Re: How do you store your fresh bread?

I normally slice it and freeze it too. The other day I kept a loaf wrapped in a tea towel and that stopped it drying out during the day. The fridge draws moisture out of food so it would probably be making your bread dry out more quickly. The man at my bread shop recommended a calico bag so I'm going to give that a go soon.

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Re: Sterilizing Jars

I normally just wash my jars hot soapy water and add hot contents whilst jars still hot- put lids on and they vacuum themselves in. Is this enough?

That's what I normally do too, but for some reason my lids wouldn't create a vacuum.

PS because my moulds were a bit smaller they didn't need the full 50 minutes - more like 40 from memory.

Ooh I've made these! I actually posted a couple of weeks ago to see if anyone else had made them. I used some silicone moulds from ikea as I didn't have dariole moulds. I think I got about 17 puddings. I had a spare one so had a little taste and it was pretty nice. Mum tasted it too and said it was beautiful. I've popped them in the fridge, so I guess the final verdict will be in after the 25th!

Has anyone tried using these? I thought I could use them with the jars to get a good seal.
