This is definitely one of my regular recipes. My kids absolutely love it and I never have excess liquid as some previous posts suggest. In fact, have just made again tonight and once again, my entire family eats it and we never have leftovers. One of my favourite TM recipes of all time.

Made this with beef fillet recently (roasted beef in oven) so still pink in the middle and made the rest of this recipe as per Dinner Spinner. So versatile! I have done this many times now with the the shredded chicken, prawns, beef, you name it! Always impresses my guests and it is the easiest dish on my TM repertoire to make!

For all of the Aussies, this book has just appeared as limited stock on the Thermomix.com.au site

I bought the new EDC recently and made the updated version of bolognaise sauce, which was somewhat difficult as I make the old EDC version by memory now (which is so modified anyway given the amount of veggies I disguise in it for my kids). I honestly have  to say I still prefer the old edition version only because I use far less olive oil than stated as well as speck instead of bacon.

I'm glad you're keeping track, JD. Has it really been that long?

It's been a white since I've posted as very busy with my 6 yo twins, work, cooking, school, life in general! I try to pop in and see what's been on the forum lately but don't get as many chances to go online as I used to. I just wanted to welcome all the new members to the forum since I was last on and hope they are all as passionate as I am about my third 'baby' - my TM!!

KimmyH, I always use your mantra on my kids
"you get what you get and you don't get upset"- never seems to work though!

Tasty, even better! No news is good news in my books. If she does eventually send an invoice, she should list which jobs were done and I don't think she can just text you or verbally ask for her money without one. Also, she should be dealing with you directly and not asking the estate agent to do her dirty work, pardon the pun!!

Chit Chat / Re: Cleaners
« on: October 12, 2012, 12:55:50 am »
I use a husband and wife team of cleaners every week for a two storey house and they take 2 hours per week. For a scrupulous house clean such as this job sounds,  I think in 7 hours my two cleaners would have done a good job but certainly, for someone (ie one person) to promise to clean an entire house, including blinds etc particularly after the previous owners had left the house in that state, sounds like it was incredibly ambitious in the first place. I would definitely only pay 75% of the invoice as she needs to be paid at least for doing some work and just write this off as a bad experience.
I found my cleaners through word of mouth and as they own their own franchise (ie they belong to a large cleaning company chain)  I have found them very reliable and trustworthy, plus I have the guarantee of their parent company if anything goes awry. I also had several other firms come to do a house clean as a test run to see what they were like before deciding on my current cleaners.
Unfortunately, with any cleaners I have used they never seem to see the small things that you do so I have found you have to be very specific in asking them to do various jobs around the house and my cleaners know by now how I like things done and they will often do little extra jobs around the house if they see something has to be done even when I haven't asked them to.
Good luck though- sounds like this lady is a piece of work!!

Non Food Recipes / Re: Miracle spray
« on: September 29, 2012, 05:51:06 am »
JD, I have an almost industrial type range hood/extractor fan in my kitchen with removable filters and I always put them in the dishwasher as well - they always come up sparkling. Before we did our renovation, the range hood in our kitchen had non removable filters and I had to use various sprays, all with limited effect at that time. I have to say that the miracle spray does my granite benchtops really well and if I just want to give my range hood a quick clean without putting everything in the dishwasher, the spray works really well.
Regarding the eucalyptus oil issue that was mentioned previously, I used tea tree oil in my first batch of miracle spray. I definitely think eucalyptus or tea tree oil is essential, not only for the smell but certainly for its antibacterial properties.

Suggestions and Complaints / Re: Cooking recipes with mince
« on: September 23, 2012, 09:48:34 am »
The only mince recipes I routinely do with the TM are the Swedish meatballs and the bolognese sauce (ragu) from the EDC which my kids love. Everything else I do on the stovetop eg pastitsio, lasagne etc.

Thanks all-  the ideas are brilliant.  I think I have been doing too much and expecting less!
To complicate matters tonight- they had their last day of school term two days ago and now they are both complaining of tummy aches and one of them has just starting vomiting- and to top it off, my husband is away again for work.  Time to a) ignore the cleaning and b)put my  dressing gown and bunker down for the night ahead! Looks like mummy cuddles and the washing machine are going to be popular tonight!

We have a reward chart for both of them as I don't believe in giving money to 6 year olds as they (mine) don't really know the value of money yet. The sticker chart works on and off however. Sometimes there is great momentum gained with the chart and other times it doesn't seem to make any difference. Thanks for all the ideas so far by the way!

Thanks cookie. That's pretty much what I'm doing at the monent on weekends but even though the house is liveable and looks tidy enough I still feel I am working against a tsunami of mess that two hobbits can create in a very short space of time!
