Even if you only get one brilliant recipe out of a recipe book or magazine itís worth the cost cookie.

So sorry for your loss K Atie, our Mums are so precious. May the dear soul Rest In Peace, it must have been so comforting for her knowing you were with her until the end.  Iíve found nursing staff are brilliant with their palliative care whether that be at home or in a nursing home, they are a very important part of our loved ones final days.

Iíve seen my ENT Specialist this morning, all good there.  The other 2 appointments are the week after next.  Going out to dinner tonight for DD2ís birthday and itís nice to have DD1 and SIL in town and able to join us.  Must google the menu so that I know whatís available.
Look forward to seeing your new blog Marina.  I know how much is involved in these things as DH, Mum and I took part in a 6 minute film about the nursing home a couple of years ago and the filming took all afternoon.

I went to the movies this afternoon with my SIL, it was a film about our football club.

The other day I was in an op shop and one of the volunteers was very chatty. She suggested I take Flaxseed Oil and by the time I walked down to the health shop Iíd forgotten why she said it would do me good LOL.  I bought it anyway then googled its benefits that night.  I was certainly impressed with what I read so will continue using it.  I then found out that a friend had been taking it for 10 years, sheís certainly healthy enough and although she is turning 80 this year she only looks 70.  Apart from the internal goodness it does, I hope it works on my face too!

You have a new road to travel now Chookie, a diabetic diet is good for anyone - diabetic or not.
Iím really interested in seeing how your recipes change now.  Bet the iPad is getting a good workout.

Looking after people in their own home has certainly changed since I was involved with carers
K Atie, having 2 carers staying overnight would be better than being in hospital I would think.  Mum is being looked after really well with the 3 of you there for her, bless you all.

I have to agree re the bread, whether you shouldnít be eating it or canít eat it, without bread in your diet it makes lunch and breakfast choices so much more difficult.
You canít and donít let rain spoil your car runs cookie, catching up with friends is the best thing for us.
Today I went for a browse up a local shopping strip and bought a few clothes then this afternoon I had 2 friends visit at the same time.  Both came with many gifts, they really spoilt me and made me feel very special.  My kids arrived late today from interstate so that was the icing on the cake.

One friend who visited today brought me some pea and ham soup, I was only thinking I must make some of that soup last night so I was very grateful for her kindness, it was lovely.

So sorry to hear that Chookie and to me diabetes is one of the hardest things to understand.  So many things you shouldnít eat, Cookie does a great job managing hers so hopefully she will have some basic ideas for you. I was diagnosed early last year by a very young doctor but since my op itís been impossible to eat much at all and Iíve had 2 doctors and a Diabetic Adviser tell me I am not a diabetic. I therefore just eat what I can and will see how future sugar tests go, at least Iím unable to eat cakes, bread and other things diabetics shouldnít eat much of.

K Atie in your situation food is the last thing on your mind, Iím glad youíve had a good talk to yourself and plan to change that.

Seeing her family would have been a huge boost for your Mum Katie, having full time carers is not the same as having a loving family around you but at least she has someone there to care for her. Hopefully you can reunite with DH & DS in the very near future

Getting in early with a sweet for the kids when they come over next week, I remember these being so easy to make and having great success
with them so these will go into the freezer and Iíll make the sauce for the freezer tomorrow.

I didnít like the tuna sauce so that went in the bin and today Iíve made cottage pies with just 250g mince and lots of veggies. Will keep one out for tonightís dinner then reheat in the a/f to brown the topping. Hopefully this batch wonít end up in the bin too! I am enjoying the cooking, just not the ability to enjoy some things.
