Jams and Chutneys / Re: UK Lemon Curd« on: December 14, 2008, 08:33:52 am »
Karen, your lemon curd looks lovely. My next batch will be the UK recipe. Which of the two recipes do you prefer? Great photo too.

Chit Chat / Re: What are you been cooking today« on: December 14, 2008, 08:32:01 am »
Karen, I have vanilla vodka/essence brewing in my pantry too. I can't wait to use it. I've seen some photos of it on other forums and theirs looks lovely, so I hope mine turns out as well.

Today's cooking so far has been Garlic and Herb pull apart from the Christmas book and Luigis 40 second biscuits. The biscuits are very tasty-I find it amazing how you can put whole almonds into the machine, zap it and you have almond meal.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hi from Lien« on: December 12, 2008, 11:31:31 am »
Hi Lien
There seems to be something about the Thermomix that husbands like. It was my DH that said 'we should get one of those'. I didn't complain at all. Welcome and I hope you receive your Thermomix before Christmas. 38227
Introduce Yourself / Re: Hello from Lauren« on: December 12, 2008, 01:16:13 am »
Yes! Let's have a Thermomix party out in the middle of the Nullabor. Perhaps on the head of the bight when the whales are in-it is an awesome sight.

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Re: Support from Consultants« on: December 11, 2008, 04:10:47 am »
I really have had little support from my consultant. They did phone once to see how it was going but that has been all.
After speaking with others who have thermomixes I felt that my demonstration was a little rushed. It was good and I did appreciate the work the consultant had done to come to my home etc. But some people had received that little bit extra, like coffee at the end of the demonstration made in the thermomix. I don't know if it made any difference that I had already made it clear that I wished to purchase one. I am quite sure that if I was to contact her I would receive all the help I required. I'm having great fun experimenting.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hi - I'm Carla« on: December 11, 2008, 03:59:12 am »
Yes I was. It was good wasn't it? So far I've only made the Christmas Shortbread. It is really nice. Hubby took some to his veteran car club yesterday and apparently they all enjoyed it too. I've brought the cheeses to make the cheese log, so will do that in the next day or so.
I bought the seafood book and we've had the fish curry from that-yummy! It's amazing how many Perthites have thermomixes when you see them all out. I have a friend who is away but plans to buy one when they return. 38231
Introduce Yourself / Re: Hi From sunny Perth Australia« on: December 10, 2008, 01:17:05 am »
Hi Greenie
Look forward to seeing some of your recipes. Not so sunny here today though. I'm sure summer will come soon, probably VERY hot. Totally off the point: But "I added an avatar!!!!!!!!!!" Not bad for a totally computer illiterate person. Maybe one day I will be able to change it to something thermomixy. (if there is such a word). 38232
Introduce Yourself / Re: Hi, I'm Warren from the US (Pennsylvania)« on: December 09, 2008, 06:21:43 am »
Thanks Warren. Wow, imagine having a special place to rise your bread. Your kitchen is really something. I love the tribute to your mother in law. You sound as though you really love your cooking.

I've just made the Christmas shortbread from the Christmas book and they are in the oven. Also have Naan bread rising and that is to go with the Fish Curry we're having tonight from the Seafood cookbook. Should be a good evening meal tonight!

Warren, your kitchen looks amazing. Excuse my ignorance but I am wondering what the piece of equipment is that looks like it has a cover over it (with a window in) at the back, very tall, with wheels. It looks interesting.
Is that an animal head I see centre right? Is it for cooking or decoration? Welcome to the forum, I find it very helpful. 38235
CHRISTMAS / Re: xmas cooking classes« on: December 08, 2008, 03:53:35 am »
No Tenina, I didn't. Was chatting to Grace (I think) for quite some time and couldn't see you when I'd finished. Next year.
Thanks again. Have made the cupcakes from the calendar-very nice. Thermomixer, the tips I gained are probably old hat to people who have been using their machines for some time, but here's a couple I remember. Squeeze your lemon directly onto the lid of the machine, the MC will stop the seeds going in-no need to use a juicer. To release dough or anything similar easily, simply turn the bowl upside down and wriggle the blades. I've been labourously scraping things out with the spatula. To get dip etc off the blades after you have scraped it out, simply give a turbo pulse and food on the blade will fly off. Easier to get the rest out. (lid on of course) Hopefully I have explained them clearly! |
