Title: How to steam a Christmas Pudding?
Post by: asha_76 on December 25, 2011, 07:41:46 pm
Hi all,

We bought a 400 gram Christmas Pudding from a farmers market last week and were wondering how to go about steaming it using the Varoma rather than on the stovetop?

I've only had my Thermomix a few days and haven't used the Varoma yet so I am a bit unsure as to how to go about it.

Is anyone able to advise if it's possible and if so, what I need to do?

Many thanks  :)

There is a recipe for a traditional steamed pudding here (http://simonesthermomixessentials.wordpress.com/) with steaming times.

Thankyou for your quick reply...that is a great help!

Just a quick newbie question?  From this recipe it looks like the pudding is just steamed in the normal basket rather than the Varoma...am I interpreting it correctly?

You are right this recipe is steamed in the basket but if it fits I would try yours in the varoma.

As it fit in the basket we decided to just steam it in there rather than the Varoma.  I followed the cooking instructions from Simone's Thermomix Essentials and it worked really well.  Thanks again for your help, it was so much easier than doing it on the stove and tasted much nicer than just heating it in the microwave.
